I got it in my head that I "need" a knit moto jacket. Someone must have posted about this one, which once I decided I wanted it of course became unavailable in my size/color. :irked:

Then I saw this one from BR, with 35% off not bad:

Does anyone have a knit one? Do you like it?

I don't have one, but that's also the stye of jacket I'm looking for and now I know what they're called!

I want one too - but not *quite* so short! It looks like it would hit me just where my pooch needs some covering up! I actually prefer the structured fabric (although not quilted) to the drapier knit.

I have one that I LOVE. It's a thick knit (almost terry-like on the inside), it's about the same length as the one you posted, and it has a hood and short cape-like sleeves so it's easy to create fun layers over sweaters, etc. I think the brand is Stem. I got it from Nordstrom a couple years ago so I can't find an image of anything similar. It's definitely more casual rather than dressy due to the thick sweatshirt-like knit, chunky zippers, hood, etc.

Anyway, just posting to say I have one and absolutely love it:)

Well, turns out the 35% off code won't work on the BR one since it's a "BR Pick" which is excluded. So I won't be buying it - that'll teach 'em! ;)

Twowhat yours sounds so cool!

Citymama, I kind of liked the BR one better with the quilting, just gave it a little extra something.

Will it work for Monogram items? This one is dressier but still "moto" (And also more expensive haha):

i love that navy quilted BR one!! that Athleta one too.

i love this look but i am skeptical if this will work for an apple-shaped body like mine..it seems like this sort of thing is flattering only if you have an hour glass or pear shape, as it seems like it is supposed to be rather fitted on top. Are these structured enough to give a shape where there is none? (lol). i don't have much of a waist... extremely broad shoulders yet narrow hips and when i wear sweaters/jackets like this, it just accentuates the weight on top and doesn't look good. hoping someone else will chime in. :)

I think it will depend on the cut - whether it's nipped in at the waist or not. If it's not nipped in at the waist, then yeah I could see it not working well. Those Athleta ones looks like they're nipped in at the waist and then you could futher balance it out with a fuller skirt? I am looking at the pic of the moto sweater worn with the Wherever (Whenever?) skort and it looks cute that way!

yeah, it would have to be nipped in the waist and some sort of stucture for it to work for me (or thick enough like that Athleta sweater one). i learned this lesson with thinner knit button up cardigans..i had so many before i realize they dont work AT ALL for me..no structure, and just accentuate tummy pooch and broad shoulders. i have a Burberry Quilted jacket that is really flattering, though it's very structured and is long enough. i just worry about the length of some of these, that may be too short.

and yeah, the balancing with a fuller skirt idea is good. i love athleta , i think about 75% of my closet staples are from there. though i wish the pics in the catalogs wouldn't make me feel so bad for not climbing rocks or whatever while i'm wearing them :)

Too funny, because i went on a mission last week to get a casual moto sweater/sweatshirt after seeing that Nordstrom moto knit on BBB. I ended up finding a really cute one at TJ Maxx. Nice thick sweatshirt material, super comfy! It was by Cynthia Rowley, $29, wearing it right now :) They had a number of moto style knit tops...

I tried this one on in-store last week and it was really cute, albeit more "sporty" than most of the others suggested. They only had the olive in the store (and I have two other lightweight olive jackets) but I am still thinking about ordering the black.

I like that navy quilted one too!

Ms. Pacman, these knit motos work really well for apples! I'm an apple and am finding that this style looks really flattering. It's a combination of the asymmetric zipper and the folded/draped collars, that create triangular points where the waist is, which helps the waist look narrower. And the bottom part skims over the apple belly. I like it so much, I have now duplicated this style in four different jackets! The first one is the Halogen knit moto, the black leather is from Spiegel, the white jacquard is from Dorothy Perkins and the denim moto is from Gap. The last two are still available on their websites....I got them on sale.

OP I don't know what size you are, but I have a black size S in the Halogen knit moto:

I had gotten two but was about to return the duplicate. If you (or anyone else) wants it, let me know and I can send it to you for what I paid ($69) plus shipping. It's new with tags.

Your outfits all look great - I'm loving the leather moto.

I just got this "vegan" leather moto from Anthropologie. http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/product/clothes-jackets-outervest/29245875.jsp?cm_sp=Fluid-_-29245875-_-Regular_0 Love it, especially the back ruffle, but it does run small (I needed to size up). Golden Pig, love all of yours, but especially the white.

I stopped by briefly at Eddie Bauer today and they had the cutest and comfiest knit moto jacket - a little longer than others posted here (seems to run big) but looked great! It was $70, not on sale. It came in 3 colors - olive, d grey and maroon, I would have bought it but I'm gonna wait for a sale and hope its still in stock!

I've tried on that one from Eddie Bauer, and the little pleating on the back wasn't flattering. I kind of looked like I had a goiter on my lower spine. seriously, the jacket just poofed out right above my bottom.

Seriously, this is why I haven't bought the BR one! Each coupon I get excludes "BR Picks" which this still is. Waiting, waiting...

ETA: Neatfreak it's very handy how they don't show the back if the poof is that bad, LOL.

Huh, funny, i thought it looked super cute from behind! At least in the EB fitting room...I tried on the smallest size they had (XS). In fact that was what I liked best about it!

In general I dislike the peplum trend but I thought this was a cute touch.

Score! I found one by Cynthia Rowley for $29.99 at Marshalls! :bighand: It's black, knit, interior is gray, has some zipper detail on the sleeve. When I tried it on someone walked by and said it looked good on me. I really like it - except the zippers are kind of sticky (hoping some WD40 will take care of that) and one of the pocket interiors is smaller than the other one - on the side where the zipper slopes in, if that make sense. I can see why it's that way but it's kind of annoying.

Anyway.... don't forget TJMaxx and Marshalls! ETA: It was in the "blazers" section.
