I need some non-Toms shoes for DD to wear this winter once she is at school and out of snowboots. She loves Toms, but I really, really hate the way they don't hold up. For what they are, they are sooo not worth the money. While I like the idea of the "buy one, give one" thing, I've heard mixed reviews on whether it actually is a good thing - why donate shoes that aren't durable enough to hand down, let alone last until the kid in them grows out of them?
So what I'm looking for are lightweight, easy to fasten or no-fasten shoes that will fit a really narrow foot in say, a kids 4 or so. So really small women's sizes are also fair game. I'm hoping to explain my reasoning, show her some choices and convert her, and end up with shoes that don't need replacing in 3-4 months. Oh, and she is a major tomboy. Green is her favorite color, if it is girly it won't be worn.
Minnetonka moccasins look interesting, they have a fair selection online at Nordie's. Other suggestions?
