I like the Lands End suit better than the LLBean suit.

Get two piece skirted bottom with high waist tummy control and cute tankini top from lands end. I generally find one pieces unflattering.

I'd keep looking. Lands End and JCPenney's have had a lot of suits over the years that have worked for me. Lands End suits are better - fit better, sewn better, better finishing, but often 50% or more expensive than JC Penney.

Of the two you linked, I liked the polka dot better because of the color and dots. In general, swim dresses look nice in photos but in real life, don't look as current to me as swim skirt with cute top. (I've worn a swim skirt for several years, so I'm coming from the same perspective as you). The Lands End suit has beautiful draping, which is very flattering but can also look old. More importantly, I hate that little flap over the upper thighs. It screams grandma to me.

If it gives you confidence, I have this swim skirt in navy/white polka dots from Land End, http://www.landsend.com/products/womens-beach-living-flounce-mini-swimmini/id_246956?sku_0=::HME. I think it's very flattering and the ruching/gathered fabric disguises tummy bulges. I feel so nice in it that I bought a matching bikini top with underwire and have worn a bikini with skirt bottom a few times at 40+ years old... the first bikini I've worn in over 30 years. I'm not in great shape and in fact weigh my heaviest right now - but this combo shows my curves and seem to disguise a lot of what I want to cover up.

This is a look that I like for swim skirts with tankini top:

Also, the other swim skirt I have is from JCPenney from years ago, but looks a lot like this:

It's out of woven Supplex, a non-stretch, quick-dry fabric that is less clingy than Spandex, so flattering. It has pockets, which can be handy, and also makes for a looser look to the front. The built-in panty is Spandex and the back waist is elastic, so it's very comfortable for swimming and moving. I feel very dressed in it. It's black, so can pair with a million tankini tops. The panty is wearing thin, but the woven Supplex fabric is going strong after several years of regular use.

Lol that describes all my suits :). I like ruching on top. Prints also help.

Agree with PPs. I find solids and one pieces to be less flattering than prints and two pieces. For me, prints distract and disguise my problem areas better. I also prefer swim skorts and swim shorts with a tankini top that has ruching or some flap design on the tankini.

I have this tankini top in the black floral and wear with a black swim skort or swim shorts.

I would order them and try them on.

I have worn swim dresses for the past decade. I really like them and find them flattering and I feel very confident in them.

I prefer two piece suits with a skirt on the bottom or a swim dress and bikini bottom. It is easier to go pee and it is much more flattering!

The black suit only has that skirt in the front, keep that in mind. I tried a few of those on and it looked great from the front, then I saw my butt and was aghast (I have a flat butt problem). Of the two, I would go with the green one. Why? Well, if you want kind of a skirt look, it covers your entire bottom half, front and back. Also, having some sort of pattern helps a LOT. I have noticed that whenever I try on a supposedly, "slimming" plain black suit, vs. a patterned suit, the patterned one always looks more flattering. If you have a few problem areas here and there the patterns do a much better job of hiding those issues, quite honestly the larger the pattern the more forgiving it is. So that green pattern is kind of small, but if you find one with a less symetrical type of pattern, that's even better, kwim? Also, my fav combo right now are swim shorts (not skirts, since the skirts do that thing where they float up in the water and I hate that), and a flattering top. I have done both the athleta swim shorts (they are my favorite, very cute and comfy and look nice looking, they are made out of swimsuit material and more fitted, w/o looking too tight) and also the more nylon kind of swim shorts that you can find at ON or WM, they look very sporty. Also, the faux two piece swimsuits (I haven't gotten one before, but have tried them on before), can be very flattering. It looks like a two piece, but it's still pieced together. They can be difficult to find though.

How about a Miraclesuit? I think Nordstrom's has them. Also Popina Swimwear has some styles I like but I've never owned one. Good luck

I generally find one-piece suits unflattering as well (at least on me) and ruching really makes the problem worse if you have a tummy because the ruching means extra material...for your tummy to expand into. So I avoid all ruching and go for a two-piece: high-waisted bottom (ruching on bottoms OK) + tankini top. I find that separates help hide figure flaws better because the tankini top is not attached to the bottom and can move freely, thus skimming over more bumps and lumps:)

I got this recently from LE:

And I love it! It gives me confidence to wear whatever tankini top best flatters my top half without any worry of exposing anything on the bottom half (they come in regular and plus sizes)! For the top, I have a couple of racerback tankini tops from Title 9 that I love.

I prefer the lands end one to the LL Bean. I have a one piece "swim dress" from LE that is similar to what you posted and like it a lot.

Didn't see your choices, but I just got this suit from Nordys and I *Love* it!

Well, I am in my late 30s and I think they are both cute! I have one similar to the LL Bean one from Kohls - it's black with white dots - and I have gotten a lot of compliments on it.

I love my two piece LE bathing suits, easy to so to the bathroom, cute skirts and fun patterns.

I also have an older two piece bathing suit I got at Macy's that is navy with white polka dots. It has a very retro halter neckline, and I get so many compliments on it!
