I don't know if this is national or not, but my barnes and noble went 75% off today (i'm guessing today cause i was in on friday and it was still at 50% off). There was TONS at my store-- leftover BTS stuff, books/cookbooks (of course), toys, and GAMES GAMES GAMES. i got rivers and roads, some smaller card type games, and a bajillion thinkfun games (like safari rush hour, etc) and the playmobil asian zoo set for 18! (i'm a member) my total was 82 dollars and i left with 3 big bags full and the playmobil set (which didn't fit in a bag).

don't forget to look in the boxes UNDER the table :) people never do this- but that's where all those great games were hiding :) hope this helps someone! i was able to knock out some christmas gifts :)

I got some of the thinkfun games and felt mosiac thing by eeboo along with the 3D white shark when it was all 50% off and there was a 20% member discount. Not sure i should keep the thinkfun games... they were turnstiles and pathwords jr.

Thanks, OP. I was just there yesterday and was wondering when it might go to 75%. Will check back this evening.

The sad part is that our local B&N had a really lame selection and I went to a larger one an hr away when it was only at 50% and was unimpressed with their selection as well. Hope that some of you get some great deals this time.

there wasn't a lot of playmobil-- i saw the asian zoo set (which i bought)
http://www.amazon.com/PLAYMOBIL%C2%AE-4852-PLAYMOBIL-Animal-Enclosure/dp/B0032O1W9E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381192476&sr=8-1&keywords=playmobil+asian+animal
(this is 5 dollars more at $80 than what amazon lists as the retail price)

this animal clinic:
http://www.barnesandnoble.com/p/toys-games-playmobil-animal-clinic/22131278?ean=4008789043436

(and actually b&n's retail price is 10 dollars LOWER than playmobil.com's -- so great deal! we already have a different animal/vet set, so i thought this might be redundant but now i'm kicking myself a little)

this fire helicopter:
http://www.barnesandnoble.com/p/toys-games-playmobil-fire-rescue-helicopter/22131283?ean=4008789058423
which was 12.95 (so $3.25 on sale.... i thought this would make a cool little present, but we have the fire engine, so i might just keep it...there were several of these at my store, some marked 14.95 for whatever reason)

i didn't see anymore, but thought these were pretty neat/versatile sets :)

watchingthemgrow-- i bought that eeboo felt set full price (or with a 20% coupon maybe?) and although my daughter was slow to warm to it, she actually really likes playing with it and making various patterns/etc. i would have gotten an extra set if that had been there today. we love games, so i loaded up. even if a game ends up lame, its' worth trying for less than 5 bucks (whereas i'm always wondering- who spends 20+ dollars on some of these games?)

Our BN had a lot of Hello Kitty cupcake kits, cake mold, cookie jar, etc. My daughter had a Hello Kitty themed party this year so I didn't get any more.

Mine also had the eeboo Slips and Ladders - http://www.amazon.com/eeBoo-BDLAD-Slips-Ladders-Board/sim/B00390F2JW/2

http://www.barnesandnoble.com/p/toys-games-poet-and-astronomer-paper-doll-set/18097158?ean=689196540981

There were tons of board games and Monsters U toys. Also, backpacks and lunch totes.

Thanks everyone!! I will check ours out today...I am not expecting much, but, will definitely post if I find some deals. My boys have birthdays coming very soon and then Christmas so it would be fun to find an extra surprise or two. I am glad we are pretty well stocked over here since I hit both Target clearances (Jan and the summer one) and various other deals along the way. I remember I used to wait and buy things for full price right before the holidays! For the past couple years and with all the great advice on here I have gotten smart and bought ahead. Thanks again!

I paid $26 and got:

*Origami kit
*lego City watch
*Shrinky Dinks I Love Horses
*Thinkfun Roll and Play My First Game
*Eeboo Felt Mosaic

--------
My store also had a Playmobil cottage (I think) and some LeapFrog toys (xylophone, guitar, flat school bus and train things)

The cashier at my store said that since they only have 2 tables to display clearance stuff, they keep putting out more of it every day. She commented that a couple of things I bought weren't out on the floor yesterday. So, it may be worth a return trip if you're still hoping for a particular item!

Interesting how their stock varies from store to store. I saw much of the same stuff OP saw (except NO Playmobil), especially games galore: board games, card games, lots of others I didn't even recognize. Also lots of puzzles of all sorts, for all ages. When I went right after the start of the 50% off, they had a much smaller and more boring assortment. (I did get some nice blank books then.)

Today I picked up, for $27.xx:
Scrabble, gardening edition (they had all sorts of theme editions)
Nice 100-PC set of wood blocks
Shrinks Dinks Gear
Crocodile Creek set of "My First Puzzles" in fairy tale designs
Several nice note pads, one with a cute mini clipboard

The Scrabble game and blocks were each regularly $30, so I was pleased.

I passed up a super-cute Sevi wooden drum set (the stand-up kind with 2 drums, triangle, topped with cymbals etc). Would have been perfect for 2-y.o. DGD2 but I really want to stay on speaking terms with DIL !!

The store near my office was pretty picked over, but I did get a four coloring/sticker books and Leappad preschool workbooks for the rainy day closet (plus a copy of The Lovely Bones) for under $10 total.

I plan to hit the store nearest my house tonight after dinner to see if they have anything better on offer . . . I would love to get some more of the Leappad books and some Playmobil/games . . . we have birthday parties coming up and I would love to get that shopping done ahead of the holiday season.

Thanks, OP. Made a quick trip there. There were 3 playmobile sets at my store but I didn't buy...not sure what age range it's good for. There were lots of games, but seemed more for older kids (plus my girls hate games, it gets them upset). I did get a few things that will make nice additions to bday gifts...a nice girly puzzle in a tin for $3.xx, eeboo paper dolls for $3.xx, a nice little box of note cards for me, and a couple of small lenticular notepads for the girls (I stash these with colored pens in my purse...we use them as restaurant entertainment). There were also a bunch of lunch bags, backpacks, nicer pencil pouches, and boys' lego storage.

eta: ok clearly I should've checked amazon before going but I was in a rush...I might have to go back and see if I can grab those playmobil sets...sounds like they're great for older kids as well.

I went by the store closer to my house last night. Again, things were pretty picked over, but I got a baby gift, an Eeboo felt mosaic kit for the neighbor girls who come over to play with The Biscuit and some M&D squirty fish for next summer at the pool for a total of under $15.

I did see the drum set mentioned above (originally $100; would have been $22.50 after clearance and member discount), but that might encourage the ILs to buy more noisy toys and I do not want to start that cycle.

I was reading a PP who said they put different stuff out so I made a quick trip back. They did put out some more stuff. All the Playmobil gone now except for an (originally) $70 one...the veterinarian one. But I did snag a couple of cute small doodle books (perfect for stashing in my purse for restaurant entertainment), a super cute baby gift which I hope to give later this year, (stacking beanbags - they are adorable!), a cupcakes matching game (super cute because it has real pics of different cupcakes - will make a nice gift) and an Olivia book (my girls love Olivia).

Everything for $2. Things were flying out fast. There were also a bunch of Elmo playing the drums, marked at $85 or something, down to $2 each. We didn't need them and we're moving in a couple of weeks, so I skipped those.
