I only need to use this in the winter, when we use area rugs. I would love a Miele but cannot justify it at this time. Any inexpensive options with a HEPA filter? many thanks!!

We really love our Ergorapido 2in1 Vacuum.

I don't know if it has a HEPA filter though

We love our Kenmores. This one we have had for 13 years with 1 repair. Had hard wood floors for 2 year with it, and now 2/3 of the house is carpet.

DH is OCD about clean floors so it is 'his' vacuum,

Shark. Costco has a few different models. This one is a decent price.

I have a Eureka Optima (it's on it's last legs but it has been going strong for YEARS!). similar to this one here. It works great for area rugs and using the wand to vacuum the corners and I like to vacuum the couch sometimes. http://www.amazon.com/Eureka-Upright-Bagless-Vacuum-439AZ/dp/B0019KMKAI/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1381424704&sr=8-5&keywords=Ureka+vacuum

We have a Hoover Tempo Widepath that we love. Super cheap and a workhorse. Rated well by CR.

I ordered this one from Amazon several months ago. I got a heckuva deal because I only paid $155 for it!
