Inexpensive boots for snow

We just made reservations to take the family up to New York over winter break, and have promised the children that if it does not snow in the city, we will drive north until we actually hit some snow.

So now I am in need of snow boots for myself, but don't want to spend a fortune as we live in Florida, so the boots would only be worn sporadically on winter vacations.

Does anybody have any suggestions for winter boots that are warm and water resistant, that can be had for under $75? I am thinking that since I am short (just under 5"3") and wear a ladies size 6 shoe, that I might be able to get away with kid sizes if they aren't too juvenile looking.

I just picked up Sorel Tofinos for under that price. Sierra Trading has been having some good sales. FS if you use the app to order, or they've also had things recently like 99 cent shipping. I am about the same height as you.

eta: no experience, but there are affordable columbia and Kamiks on sierra trading too. Add in some smart wool socks if you need to up your purchase to get FS (if you don't use the app or other methods to hit FS).
