picked this up on SD that scholastic has the book deals for 1st to 6th grade level.

I am interested in getting one of the packages for DD's class birthday favors.

Is it a good idea to give different book titles to each kid? Also, these kids are 1st graders but they are all reading chapter books, write monthly book reports, have literature tests, etc. So I am thinking getting the 3rd-4th grade package, but a bit hesitant that it will be a bit "too grown-up" for the kids.

At check out apply the code "UJL".

For the K-2nd Grade Selection of books, reg price $178

There's a thread on slickdeals about the last time. Overall buyers were very happy with the books and there were no duplicates.

EDIT: I was talking about the 50 books for $50 where all the books are different. I don't know about the party favor one - sorry!

We did scholastic books as a favor, but ordered the $1 books from the book order. It was a big hit with the students and the parents. In our school they hand them out in class, I think different books would have caused an issue. By ordering through the book order I only had to buy the quantity that I needed, plus the teacher got some credit to use for class books.

ETA: This was 1st grade, I think I bought a 2nd grade book. It may have been 3rd grade though. The 1st grade book didn't seem like a great fit.

Hi,
My teacher set up an account for our class - so I assume that we can put in the code if we are parents?
Also, can someone tell me - how do you find the codes generally? I went online to Scholastic and didn't see any particular codes (though some deals), but on BBB, people often note codes... where can I find them?
Thanks!

Hi,
Just tried it with 'my' account as a parent and the site still wants a teacher's email and password so... I think it's only good for teachers who have accounts - ie for teachers to buy books for their classrooms?

:yeahthat: My sister is a teacher and sent me the email about these books. She said she'd have to order them vs me using my account.

There are quite a few $1 books on the Scholastic site that anyone could order. You could just pick one title and order enough for all the kids.

Maybe:
Chocolate Touch: https://clubs2.scholastic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10601&catalogId=10001&productId=453707&parent_category_rn=53351&langId=-1

Is there a way to search by price? I've always tracked them down by looking at the flyer but suspect I'm missing some $1 books.

I am a big fan of the $1 books scholastic offers. They always have one book listed for $1 on each month's flyer. There are different flyers for different grades. Preschoolers have FIREFLY, Kindergartners and 1st have SEESAW, 2nd & 3rd have LUCKY, 4th and 5th have Arrow, and middle preschoolers have TAB. If you go to the scholastic website you can shop these flyers. You will need to have a parent account which is link to your child's teacher/school. The website usually has three flyers listed at a time you can shop from. So, for example, right now you can shop from the Sept., Oct., and Nov. flyers. Plus, you can shop the various grades flyers too. To see the $1 books, look on the first page of the flyer. They are always on the first page. Or, you can have it show a price list and just scroll down until you see $1. The great thing about ordering on-line (if your teacher allows it) is that the class earns free books. There are no shipping costs when ordering from a flyer because the books are sent to the teacher at the school and then given to your child.

I selected by reading level, so maybe 2nd grade AT reading level from the blue tabs/drop-downs in the Reading Club area. So for that choice, I get 7 $1.00 books.

You can go through the other grade and reading levels for more choices.

If you order through a parent account, how long does it take for these to reach the kid's school?

Ah - perfect! There is more than one per grade. Thank you!!

4-5 days, but it depends on when the teacher finalizes the order. I'd just email the teacher and ask.

No problem! I ordered 9 different titles today. Some for DD and some for DS1. I like that they are good, well-known books, too. The My Weird School series, Frindle, Fly Guy, A to Z Mysteries.
