Let's see. DS woke up around 5 and between exchanging smiles, changing his diaper, and nursing him, I was up with him until 6. Which was fine, because DD2 was also up and talked to me NONSTOP for that entire hour. I finally cried mercy and stuck them both in bed between me and snoring, oblivious DH, and dozed for the next hour while DD2 talked to DS and he smiled and gurgled at her. I swear next year I'm hiring a night nanny for fall back night. (Turns out DD1 was also awake for part of that but mercifully stayed in her own room reading.)

We went to a family wedding reception last night and my SIL and BIL stopped by our house on their way home so my kids were all up way past their bedtime. They were all exhausted when the baby went to bed at 9 and the big kids after 10. They let me sleep until about 7:15. No complaints about that, but it is SNOWING. SNOWING. Not happy about that!

and i should add-- my child didn't even eat the pancake. because she'd already had breakfast ;) this was a mommy indulgence for sure. :) Sarah- i'm glad your DD2 could entertain the baby a bit. hopefully that cheerfulness continues through the day :)

i've always loved getting the extra hour, even after having kids. the kids either wake up at "normal" time or they sleep in a bit. they woke up at 7:15 this morning. with the extra hour i went to Sprouts (they open at 8:00am) and went grocery shopping while DH stayed at home with the kids. it was great! am glad to have the extra hour since DH is leaving again this afternoon.

I woke up at 5 am, which is honestly a good thing so I am in the habit for tomorrow morning, and then hopefully I'll get back in the habit of going to the gym in the AM a few times a week.

No extra hour of sleep here as the dog woke me up promptly at 6am like she does everyday, but today that meant 5am. :dizzy: The rest of the family slept in later than normal.

Hubby and I got to enjoy an extra hour of sleep. It was glorious! DD slept in late too, so we're all happy campers! :boogie:

I am fighting a cold, so I actually got LESS sleep despite the extra hour. I think I have a fever....

Haha, so true!! I could have written this when DD was little.

However, she has her own clock now, and can tell time. We changed the time last night in anticipation of getting the extra hour. Except, my own brain was not in on the plan and woke up at 6:30 anyway. So I went for a jog.

My extra hour was just an extra hour of taking care of the kids, who, of course, got up at normal time. DH slept in because he didn't sleep well last night. The month of sleeping in the recliner after his shoulder surgery is starting to get to him. Hopefully, though, I'm gonna sneak in a little mall shopping alone in just a bit. If I'm not too tired. Maybe I can gain the hour tonight by going to bed early if everyone else does.

I spent it cleaning puke out of an area rug.

I went through my boys clothes and purged/stored the summer stuff and pulled out the fall and winter stuff. I HATE that chore. HATE it. glad it's over for a couple months.

Awesome awesome awesome!!!!

I've been trying some of the strategies listed that never work. I actually lucked out last night. Kids went to bed later because we had friends over. I switched all of the clocks at bedtime. DS woke at 3:30 (wasn't surprised at all) and I have him a melatonin pill. He woke again at 4:30 (again not surprised since he usually wakes at 5am), then to my great shock, he fell back to sleep until 6:15 (granted I ended up sleeping in his room with the baby,). But I'm sure he will wake at 4:30 every morning for the next month. If I get lucky, he will wake at 5 or 5;30 consistently. When he was 2, he never adjusted and woke at 4:30 until January.

The kids were up at 5am. DH yelled at them to back to bed and they did. We did actually then get another hour of sleep. They are now both napping (even the 6yo) because we kept them up late fri and sat in hopes that they'd sleep in this morning. They didn't and now they are exhausted.

We took family pictures this afternoon, always a tortured activity. I think we might have some keepers though!

I don't miss those days.

I had to work today. I managed to sleep for about 30 minutes of my extra hour and I did house work with the rest.

It is! My one year old seemed to misunderstood the holiday and was up before 5a. I tried to explain it to him km the dark and then he just stuck his fingers up my nose and giggled. Sigh.
