We own a small business (<50 ppl) and we are just starting to bring on employees. I would like to get a sense of the cost to offer some sort of coverage to these employees before we make a decision. Is there an exchange like there is for individuals? If not, can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

Best of luck to you!

Dh works for a small business with just under 50 employees. I don't think they used SHOP this year, but I'm curious what will happen next year. They currently offer insurance, but adding on our family is rather pricey, so we go with our own private plan with a 3K deductible. His employer has been growing steadily and it won't be long before they are over 50 employees, so kind of a complex situation. As a result, we've been following this stuff for a while, because we seem to be affected by lots of little nuances of how ACA is being rolled out.

You can contact an independent insurance agent (or three) for other options. Especially if your state did not opt in to the ACA marketplace, your options there may be limited. IOW, that's not ALL that's out there for small businesses. It may wind up being the place you find the best option, but it's not the only option. :)
