Is anyone experienced with the K'Nex Mario kart Circuit set?

Looking at it on amazon-looks like ds would love it but it looks HUGE and there are complaints that it doesn't stay together.

This was a flop at our house. DS loves Mario and loves building things. I don't remember why it wasn't loved.
