I was planning to buy this Ikea Malm twin bed for DS as his "temporary" big-boy bed (I assume that when we move in a couple of years, I'll buy him a new bedroom set that's not as baby-ish as his current set, and will probably get a full size bed then). http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20120582/#/00214548

For the past month, DS and DD are having "sleepovers" in her full-size bed and both kids are sleeping all night! (Hopefully I didn't just jinx myself!) So now I'm thinking that I should get DS a twin trundle so they can sleep in his room too. His room is too small for a full-size, and I don't want to spend too much money since I'm going to replace all of this in a few years. Any suggestions for a reasonably priced twin trundle?

Thanks!

We got my dd's trundle off Craigslist. I know that place is so hit or miss, but it's worth a shot to check it out, especially since you only plan on keeping it a few years.

DD1 has a bed from Pottery Barn Kids where you can add the trundle if you want. Currently we don't have the trundle and we are waiting to see what our next house is like before we get it (DD1 really wants bunk beds, but the ceiling in her room is too low, hoping that the next house will work with her bunk bed plan and we can sell the PBK bed that we have now).

ETA: This is the bed we have: http://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/catalina-cottage-bed/?pkey=dbeds-mattresses&

We got a trundle bed about 1 1/2 years ago from Costco. I looked high and low at every furniture store in the area and on the internet and couldn't find anything I liked - until Costco (go figure). However, you might just consider getting the kids sleeping bags (if they don't have them) and letting them "camp" when they are in your DS's room. It's special in a whole different way, and there is no extra furniture to buy. Or use couch cushions...

so they are 2 and 4, or 3 and 5? they can still both fit in a twin bed :) mine like to sleep with heads at opposite ends of the bed.

eta: my dd1 and ds1 are 20 months apart and slept really well together. we moved them about a year ago, when they were 4 and 5.
