I want to order winter coats for my boys while there is a sale.

DS1 who is 4 yo has a normal build, and DS2 who is 2 yo is very skinny.

I've read some posts that Lands End's Squall Parka was very boxy in the past. Is it like that again this year? I haven't read anything about the fit of the LLBean's Katahdin parka.

Any imput would be great!

The boxy Squall was on the Overstocks page last year - may still be - not sure. We had the waterproof squall jacket (fits nicely) for DS1 and sized it way up so he could get multiples years of wear. Unfortunately DS2 needs it this year, so DS1 had to get an even bigger one. He's 6 tomorrow and will have an 8 jacket. DD has a katahdin from the sale page, but she hasn't worn it yet. I like the squall's real hood.

My super skinny daughter has the Katahdin and it fits her well. She really likes it.

We've had 3 Katahdins over the years (work well for hand me down too). They are not narrow fit but not boxy either.

We've had both. Go with the Katahdin.

The Squall still runs huge and wide, imo. My big (85/85 percentile kid) swam in both the Expedition and this year's Waterproof Squall. May I suggest our new favorite? LLB's Mogul Jumper.

Thanks for the tips!! I ordered the Kathadin!

Kindra178, I looked into the Mogul Jumper you had suggested, but was hoping to get a parka this year to keep their bottoms warm! :)

Understood. The MJ is a little longer in the back and covers their bottoms (I also sized up a bit). But my boys hate parka length. I don't understand why.
