I bought DS the 2014 Guinness World Records book at Costco. He loves that stuff and can read it over and over so I always pick them up for him when I find them. Usually the books are softcover and smaller and I just give them to him quietly so not a big deal with my other kids feeling left out. This one is big and hardcover so I don't think I can get away with giving it to him without getting something for the 3 girls. DH and I decided we'd just do books for everyone one night of Hanukkah.
I am having a hard time finding something for the girls - ages 7 and almost 5. I don't want to do any regular chapter books for DD1 because her tastes are a bit fickle and it's frustrating to buy and then have her not want it. We have a great library 5 minutes away and get lots of stuff from there. I'm trying to find something a bit more special, maybe with great illustrations. Something they can enjoy looking at over and over. She's not as into all the non-fiction type stuff DS was into but I think that something sort of general-knowledge that is age appropriate with nice pictures might work. Or, even just a good story that has more substance than something like Robert Munsch, which we love around here but have a ton of so it's nothing special IYKWIM.
We have a few of the hardcover Disney compilation books that my younger 2 like. They pretend they are chapter books which makes them happy because they are like their older siblings. We also have a Pinkalicious one and a Curious George one. Something along those lines would work also.
Any ideas?
