Post office to start delivering Amazon packages on Sundays! To select areas for now

DH and I were discussing this and wondering how it will work once they expand it nationally. Will it only be in metro areas? Will the customer have to pick up at an area post office? I live in small town USA, relatively rural. I can't imagine that my towns people order enough from Amazon to keep my local post office "open" on a Sunday (even if the office itself isn't technically open, they'd have to pay 1 delivery person to be there every Sunday JIC). So would I have to go to my nearest main branch of the USPS to get my package? For me that's 25min away.

I'd guess that they wouldn't offer Sunday delivery to places like your town. You'd just get your packages on Monday, like now.

I was so shocked when a parcel arrived for DS2's birthday on Sunday. It makes Prime even more invaluable to us!

It is for all amazon, not just prime. I got a package this Sunday and I had just used the super saver shipping. I'm in the LA area.

Explains why I got a ship and save item on Sunday afternoon. Nice surprise, but I won't pay extra for the service.

Yes, it is for all Amazon. I was just pointing out, as the article does, that this makes Prime even better, since the two days will now include Sundays if you are in the NY or LA area, and then other cities next year.

I hope this does well for the USPO!
