Would she wear something from Gymboree, provided it's not their "cute" clothes? Something like the below....

I don't want DD to feel like I'm buying her baby clothes, and we're starting to feel the pressure to "be like everyone else.". Are these options OK or keep looking?

The two outfits that you liked to - for sure!

My nine year-old likes the cardigans and items that are striped or geometric from Gymboree, but she's over the cute stuff with bows, animals, etc.

I think stuff like that is fine.

But not any of their patterned or theme clothing.

I had a nine yr old (who went and grew up on me!) and while she was more Into Roxy tee shirts and jeans those are super cute and for dressier events she would have worn them. Not babyish at all.

Ok, glad to hear I'm not way off base lol. It's hard trying to figure out what's appropriate for a 9 yo girl (and for a 40 something mom, but that's another post!)

I think those options are super cute, and my 9 yo DD would wear them for special occasions, but for everyday wear she and her friends are much more casual - skinny jeans, T shirts, converse, uggs, etc.

I basically don't buy anything for my almost 9 year old without asking her first, especially for dresses because she is very picky about what she considers acceptable and not too babyish. The dreaded Justice, Gap Kids, Boden, Next Direct, and Zara kids are all on her currently ok list.
