Background: I just received the tee that I ordered for DGD2 (with the $10 "thank you" voucher!), and discovered that they had sent the wrong thing! The odd thing is that both the packing slip AND the label on the plastic bag containing the item were correct. I ordered one of the print tees but was sent an appliqué tee. Fortunately the size is correct, and the color/style are fine.

Here's my question: how do the MB appliqué tees hold up? Do the edges of the appliqués fray, or do the appliqués come off? Trying to return/exchange it would be a hassle and the one they sent is also cute, just not what I was expecting.

I actually prefer the applique tees because I think they are cuter, but they do fray a little around the edges. IMO, it doesn't detract from their cuteness though. They do hold up well.

Thanks ! As long as they don't fray so much that they are unwearable, we're good.

I don't like Boden appliqué tees. I've bought at least a couple per season the last couple of years. And to me they fray too much and starts to show wash wear after just a few wash wear. I didn't buy any this fall.

I love the appliqué tees. My kids have several each. DD2 is very sensitive to fabric and prefers screen prints or plain tees bc the appliqués require backing and make for a thicker and more rigid front. DD1 wears hers all the time. We have two tees that I bought when she was 4, in sz 5-6, that she's worn at age 4, 5, 6 and now 7 - four years and they look fantastic! Both are made in Portugal - I notice a difference in the Portugal made v China made tops.

Some designs fray quite a bit and others less so. The frayed edges give more of a weathered look but not necessarily an old or worn out look.

Which one did you get?

It's a light blue with appliqué of a bundled-up bird on a sled. Definitely cute, but not the penguin by a pool that I was expecting!

Not impressed with the appliqué tees. The fraying did look worn after a wash. It was fine. But the shirt overall didn't wash well compared to a Hanna graphic tee.
