Fever over 101 for how long?

DD came down with fever last night before bed. It has stayed over 101 all night despite giving meds. She vomited last night as well. She feels terrible.

How long do you go with your child having a constant fever before going to the doctor?

I'm sorry if that is a silly, basic question, but we are thankfully hardly ever sick around here.

We usually wait 3-5 days unless there are other symptoms that worry us.

If the fever did not go away after 3-5 days, I would call the ped and see what they want to do. But generally, our ped does not have you come in for fevers less than 103.

Up to 5 day unless there are other symptoms that might signal treatment could help like a sore throat.

Pretty much what the others say. Unless lots of vomiting and you think your dealing with dehydration

We've been hit with the flu already early this year so I would take her in to have her swabbed if she has any other symptoms at all. DH and DD were able to avoid it by quickly starting Tamiflu.
