View Full Version : Who loves their slippers? I need a new pair!

Sadly, my much beloved Ugg slippers are nearing the end of their usefulness. I've worn the shearling down to almost nothing. I need slippers that are warm, clog/scuff style, VERY comfortable, with a sole that will survive dashes to the mailbox, etc. I'm considering another pair of Uggs, Haflinger, FitFlop…what else should I be looking at. Sadly, the "Wicked Good" slippers from LL do not work. I am between sizes, the 9s are too small, the 10s are too big. :( This is going on my Christmas list, so price doesn't matter too much. :)

**UPDATE**

I bought these from Garnet Hill. I'll report back. :)

Watching this thread - I am in the same boat! Last year I tried to get new slippers but ended up not liking the LLB's I picked out. I've been thinking Uggs again but am open to other ideas.

I love the boiled wool Halflingers clogs with a rubber and cork sole. The cork sole is so comfy and supportive (I have high arches and bunions). Even though they are wool, they are not hot and sweaty, even in the summer. My problem with them is they do not last as long as I think they should for $100. They start breaking down at the 6-9 month mark and are in shambles at the year mark.

Have you tried the LLB Wicked Good Clogs? They are the cheaper cousin to the Haflingers. I wear a 9 and they definitely stretch. Mine were a little tight in the instep area and at the toes. They do take a few days to break in, but now mine are super comfy. Same cork sole as the Haflingers. They breathe equally well as the Haflingers, even on hot days. They are also a lot cheaper than the Haflingers and last way longer.

Amazon often has deals on Haflinger clogs. I am not a fan of Ugg slippers. They are way too hot for me. The Mocs I had never stayed tied. They also offered no support.

I have Haflingers that I truly love. I agree with PP to get the cork clog style and not the AT slipper style. My toes wore through the top of the wool of the ATs quite quickly but haven't with the clogs. These are the ones I have: http://www.amazon.com/Haflinger-Clog-Charcoal-Womens-Mens/dp/B000W4PEPU/ref=sr_1_4_mc?ie=UTF8&qid=1384788333&sr=8-4
Was able to get them for ~$45.

I love my Uggs. I think they offer great support. That is the reason I get them. They only last a year for me (I probably wear mine more than the average person). I wish they sold new insoles for them like they do the boots! I get the Ansley version, which have no ties. When they first came out, I got the Dakotas, which have the tie and they did come undone all the time.

I love Ugg slippers for really cold weather. I also have a pair of haflinger grizzly clogs per kindra's suggestion. Use them when it's not as cold - even during the summer at times! Love them.

I got Uggs last year and they were horrible. The heel wore off in record time and I ended up returning them to Zappos. I ended up going with a pair from LL Bean and I LOVE them. Much better price and much better quality. I will never buy another pair of Uggs -- there was zero support and you are really paying for the Ugg mystique.

These are the ones I have:

I have these too, but find my feet sweat quite a lot in them so it needs to be very cold for me to wear them.

My LL Bean wicked good slippers are falling apart after a little over a year - very disappointing! The seams are coming apart on both, and the shearling is very worn down. I have an older pair of Wicked Goods that I keep at my parents - those are still solid, so I think LL Bean quality is slipping.

Which Ugg slippers do people like?

DH got me a pair of Bearpaw Moccasins for Christmas a few years ago. This is the updated version:
http://www.amazon.com/BEARPAW-Womens-II-Moccasin-Chocolate/dp/B004WZHTG2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1384801664&sr=8-1&keywords=bearpaw+moc

I'm a SAHM and hate cold feet. I also can't stand barefoot (or sock foot) on hard floors without my feet hurting, so I wear these all day long, almost every day, as soon as it starts to get cooler and I start wearing socks (I do wear mine w/ socks so I haven't had a sweating problem). They are very comfy and have held up pretty well. About 1.5 yrs. after getting them the shearling was pretty smooshed down on the bottom so I bought a generic shearling insert from Ebay that I've been using with them. I just noticed last week that the stitching holding the rubber bottom to the leather is coming apart, so I asked my mom for a replacement pair for Christmas. I think she ordered from shoebuy.com when they were having a special code, which made them cheaper than Amazon. The ones I currently have run true to size. DH sized up to an 8 after reading reviews, but they were way to big, so I got a 7 instead. I also own a pair of Bearpaw boots which I love :)

Why don't you send them back to LLB?

When I tried the Wicked Good clogs, the 9s were too short, the 10s too big. But I guess if they don't break in well, I could return them.

PP, I think you should return yours to LL Bean. That's pretty lame that they came apart, it sounds like a bum pair.

I tried the LLB Wicked Good slippers but I didn't like them as much as my Uggs. I have tried the Ugg mocassins and now the regular slipper style. I prefer that to the slip ons, myself.

I think I might try the Orthaheel slippers next as I love my orthaheel flip flops. They are my summer slipper.

IDK if you are looking for a pure slipper or are open to other options. Honestly, the best, "slipper" I have had in our house that is all HW floor on the first story is a pr of birkenstock clogs that are designated only for indoor use. I got one that is more of a mary jane style, so it isn't quite as bulky, as say their famous boston model. I like it this way, b/c in the summer, I can wear them barefoot and in the winter, I can wear socks. So, I find it to be more versatile. Basically, I need arch support when working in the kitchen.

I've come to realize my feet get sweaty in anything synthetic, so for slippers I can only do real suede/shearling. Unfortunately my favorite slipper company just went out of business!

Their footbed never worked for me (the real reason I left Berkeley...I was ostracized for not wearing Birks ;) )

I have Clarks "fur" lined clogs. They are warm and the sole is rubber so that I do not slip down our HW stairs again. They are extremely comfortable.

I love my Uggs. ... I wish they sold new insoles for them like they do the boots!

I bought UGG insoles from Zappos for my Shearling (not Ugg, but a different shearling bootie slipper) slippers and they are working out great.

I love my orthaheel flip flops as well and wear them around the house when it's warm. I want a pair of orthaheel slippers too. I've never found a pair of slippers that have lasted more than a year though. Even my Ugg slippers were worn through after just a few months and that was a huge disappointment since they were so much!

Good point - I don't sweat in wool, but have been wary of doing shearling/suede mostly because I can't find anything I like.

We love our Wesenjak boiled wool booties. Even baby has a pair. They are NOT meant for outdoor use, though.

I had a cute pair of LLB mocs (the ones that come in fun colors) but the leather bow was forever coming untied. So annoying.

I don't care for the mocs anyway, or the clog style. If they don't keep my feet entirely warm (hello! My ankles!), I don't see the point!

I use to be a hardcore Ugg fan until I got some Sorel slippers ( I have the boiled wool style) ...oho man. They're perfect. The sole is rubbery and flat, NOT the ribbed Ugg sole (Hated the lines they leave on the carpet!) and more flexible than the Cork sole kind. Perfect for light outside use and def. protects from the cold floors. I usually have really sweaty feet but these keep me toasty but not sweaty.

Have you looked at Marks and Spencer? They always seem to have great basics, and now that shipping to the U.S. is free, it's worth a check.

It looks like the pickings are slim right now, and we've never paid more than $15 for each of ours (we gave them as gifts one year). But if you subscribe to STP emails they often show up as their daily deal.

I've tried a few brands and I go through a pair of slippers every year. Some don't even last that long. I do wear them year round in the house. Currently I have a pair of Ugg knock off boots I got on last trip back to Australia. They cost me $12, so I won't care if they don't last too long. I've given up on finding a pair that will last more than a year.

I have these Ugg Scuffette (http://m.zappos.com/ugg-scuffette-ii-chestnut-suede) and have had them for 3 yrs. and love them in case anyone else is looking. I am a wohm though and live in SoCal so my Uggs only get use in the house on nights and weekends and from about October to April. My last pair of Ugg slippers (coquette) (http://m.zappos.com/ugg-coquette-chestnut) last 6 yrs., but those had more of a sole so I wore them out in the yard and to yoga. I miss that, but DH bought me these so I can't complain.

My last pair of slippers were Tamarac (http://www.amazon.com/Tamarac-Slippers-International-Fluff-Slipperr/dp/B000AS2IHA) and they lasted for several years. I've got a pair of Uggs now and honestly, the Tamaracs were just as nice for less than half the price.
