there is quite a range of price points for a toy shopping cart

pretty sure this will be a huge hit for DD bc she LOVES pushing around the doll stroller and collecting things in it

but is the M& really worth $50?

what do your kiddos have?

thx

We have the M&D shopping cart and it is very much loved and used daily. I got it from Amazon for $30 last year in December. I think prices for toys are usually better in December.

We have the M&D one, but I think I paid $36. My kids like it well enough.

We also have the M&D one and I can't remember how much we paid but we got a great deal through diapers.com two years ago. It's still used by every child who plays in our back yard. (Used to be an indoor toy but we moved it out back to cut back on clutter.)

I got 3 of the M&D carts from Barnes and Noble last year for around $30, they were big hits with all the nieces!

We have the Little Tikes one with a doll cubby in the front like the kid car shopping carts at grocery stores.

We have this one:

I really like it. Love that there's the seat in front, the basket, and the space under the basket like a real shopping cart but all rounded edges. It comes completelyl assembled - just pull it out of the box!

I will admit though that the girls saw a M&D one at Striderite and couldn't stop playing with it. Yes, it was novel but I was also struck by how "real" it was and we all know that for kids, the closer it is to the real thing...

But I would hate for that metal cart to be banging around our walls at home.

iv'e seen metal ones as well as M&D pop up on FB all the time for fairly cheap. my kids love the "real" shopping carts (they love to use the baby ones at the grocery store),but you couldn't pay me to have one in my house though..the kids would be banging up the walls/doors with that left and right!! i would take that into consideration before buying a metal one. if i ever bought a cart to have at home it would have to be the little tykes or something that would not ruin the walls/cupboards if the kids rammed it into things. we have a Cozy Coupe in our house that is primarly indoors and gets tons of use and the kids ram that into everything, i shudder at what the damage they'd do with a metal cart. but maybe my kids are just destructive :)

I got this one (at that time it came without the food) from the Little Tikes website a couple of years ago. I had a percentage off coupon and they were offering free shipping so I paid less than $25. DS is almost 5 and still plays with it constantly.

Our Little Tikes one is several years old and still gets lots of frequent play and looks brand new: http://www.amazon.com/Little-Tikes-Shopping-Cart-Pink/dp/B002EQ9V1M/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1384870880&sr=8-3&keywords=toy+shopping+cart

The impression I get is you can't go wrong with any of the Little Tikes ones. We have this one.

The only annoying part was it took FOREVER and alot of struggle for DH to put it together (no way I could have done it myself, something that just needed brute strength). But it's held up beautifully and has NOT banged up our house (my biggest fear, which is why we avoided any metal carts). And I like that it has a solid bottom. Some of the more realistic ones with a grid bottom were frustrating because items that weren't placed carefully would fall out through the holes in the grid.

Good luck with your purchase! Shopping carts are one of those toys that get years of use, by any gender :)

We have the Little Tikes one and even after 8 years is still in fantastic shape. DD2 still plays with it frequently.

We have the classic little tikes carts (yellow and red). The girls love it. I would not get a metal one because, while cute, it would beat the fool out of walls and doors.
