I find myself wearing my pea coat all the time on the not super cold days. I have a down jacket for when it gets really cold, but I would like something for the 30s to 40s type temperatures. The pea coat is a little dressy and not very wind resistant. And if it starts raining, forget it!

I like the idea of a quilted jacket. I would like it to be wind resistant and take the occasional sprinkle.

I tried on this coat at Lands End, and liked a lot of things about it, but the arms are oddly wide and it only snaps (no zipper):

I also tried on this jacket at Eddie Bauer. We gave it to my sister last year for Christmas, and she loves it. I liked it, maybe a smidge too warm?

So recommend your jacket so i can look at some more!! Somewhere in the $100-$150 range, since this will likely be my Christmas present from DH. Thanks :)

I am obsessed with Patagonia's Low Sky. I have recommended it here before but it really fits the 25-48 degree category when you can't bear to bring out the down. It is very thin (not puffy), very flattering, warm enough, great for in and out of the car and very windproof. It is over your price range though. I hesitated to get it, tried other options from LE and LLB (which failed) and bought it.

I love the Lole Glowing jacket and get lots of compliments when I wear it. It's probably too lightweight for 20's/low 30's though. I definitely wear it in the 40's, you could do 30's if you weren't hanging around outside, kwim?
