Gift for almost 3yo who loves construction trucks?

DS turns 3 in January and LOVES construction trucks - well, all things with wheels, but mostly construction. He has a set of small construction trucks and a few medium sized ones, but I'm wondering if there is something out there I'm missing that he would just go crazy for? Like a construction playset or a more elaborate construction truck? Right now he just uses them to dig in our dirt but we're considering putting in either a sandbox or "rockbox" for play.

We've never tried Magformers. I'll check them out.
Are there still Bruder trucks at TJMaxx or Ross? He doesn't have any. That's a good option. Not sure what to expect to pay. There is a crane on Amazon for $36.

My son has similar interests but he has moved more towards fire trucks lately. I just asked him what his favorite construction trucks are and he said his Bruder dump truck and Bruder skid steer. The skid steer came with a jeep and trailer and he loves those too.

My son was (and still is) totally into construction trucks. I'd say get a bruder truck that has attachments. We have this skid loaded and attachments (fork lift and tow)

Also, have you seen truck tunes by twenty trucks? You can see a few on you tube. We bought the whole package for DS when he turned 3. The truck tunes CD has cute songs and awesome videos of all of the trucks. It's super informative.

I just read the part about the "rock box". We have a gravel pit. It is this sand box from little tikes but we filled it with gravel. If you do this, be aware that landscape gravel will need to be rinsed.

Another Bruder truck fan here...DS is 3 and has the crane and loves it. It gets used daily. We also have a small digger that gets a lot of play too. More Bruder trucks are at the top of his wish list this year. My mom got him the flat bed truck with a backhoe type truck on it.

We also have a set of small (matchbox size) construction trucks that came with some work men, cones, barrels, and barricades and my MIL found a construction play mat to go with them. Those get used too and might be a good option if you want something smaller or more portable. I am blanking on the brand name but I will try to look it up and update my post with it...

Where do I look for good prices on Bruders? I think DD2 would LOVE one, especially the crane.

Amazon has the best prices on Bruder for a full selection. TJMaxx/Homegoods/Marshall's have better prices but they are hit or miss and less variety - it seems like they get the crane, the logging truck, and the cement mixer most often.

I think we have the same matchbox size set, but without the cones, men, etc. That sounds fun. I would love to see a link if you find it!

Do you know off the top of your head what those prices typically are? Under $30? Or does it vary according to the truck...
