Last night I was fed up with my kids (took them into the corner Walgreens to get DD2 some cough suppressant and it was like Disneyland, guess I should take them there more often....we usually go to Target and I can keep them semi confined) and then when we got home DD1 was mad that I made her correct her homework that I put a bottle of wine in the freezer to chill thinking I would have some w/dinner. I just remembered I left it in there and I don't think DH opened up the freezer this AM or last night when he cleaned the kitchen. Please tell me I won't have a bottle of exploded chardonnay when I get home? :praying:

I never have the problem of forgetting my in the freezer to chill wine, lol, so I can't help you, but I bet it will be fine!

I did find this http://www.supplewine.com/articles/wine/frozen-wine-w48/

Is there enough alcohol content to keep it from freezing? I store vodka in the freezer and it's not even slushy, just ice cold.

I've done this before, it should be fine. The cork will probably pop up a bit, so it might be messy to open once thawed. I also noted that the alcohol separated and did not freeze while the rest of the contents froze. So, you might want to try to mix it up a bit before pouring. May not be quite as good as if it hadn't been frozen, but not worth throwing out the bottle in my opinion!

Thanks, yeah Vodka has more alcohol so never had an issue there. Thanks for the tip. Yeah I'll just mix or make my favorite lemon caper chicken which I usually make with chardonnay, if it truly tastes bad. Thankfully it was a bottle of Meridian so nothing too expensive.

Definitely open it in the sink. I did that with beer once and it wasn't pretty but since wine isn't fizzy you should be ok.

I've done this before, it is totally fine. I've left a bottle of wine in the freezer for days before and it was even fine once it thawed.

I think it will be fine, we've forgotten bottles of beer in the freezer and even those didn't explode!

You should be fine to enjoy your "chilled" wine when you get home. :)

I did this a month ago, I had a broken wine bottle in my ice maker tray.... Nice mess to clean up, hope your bottle doesn't do this.

Yay! Chilled wine is much better than a messy freezer. :)
