One of my assistants got a call from her OB's office last week and they told her that she has gestational diabetes. Then they scheduled her for a class on the subject for this Friday and hung up. No diet plan, no advice, no nothing.

My assistant is stressed about the whole thing. Any suggestions? Diet plans? Tips and tricks?

The American Diabetes Association has a great website with helpful info, so I have heard. (I was never that motivated enough to look at it.)

I would think that she will receive a diet plan and advice at the class on Friday. Until then, the ADA website is probably a good place to start.

Just curious if your friend got all of her questions answered at the class.

They should give dietary counseling during her appointment.

In the meantime, she should probably stuck to moderate portions of lean meat and non-starchy veggies. If she's kine me, she will feel hungry the first two weeks until your body adjusts to the lack of carbs and smaller portions.

aerobic exercise is also really good at helping control blood sugar. is she able to move at all? even walking can make a big difference.
