I recently had stitches above my eye and now need to wear a heavy duty sunblock for a year or so to avoid additional scarring. I have sensitive eyes -- sunblock often irritates and slides into my eyes so I am thinking of a stick. Any suggestions? Prefer something crunchy/well rated by EWG but will do what I have to :)

I kept this in my bag for the kids during the summer. It was on that Crunchy sunscreen mom list and she really liked it.

For myself, I really like Elta MD UV clear for year-round protection. I put it all over my face and have no problem with any stinging in my eyes (my eyes are sensitive too). It works really well under makeup. It's not the crunchiest product, but my dermatologist recommends it to his patients, and I love it.

I use this daily http://www.drugstore.com/cetaphil-daily-facial-moisturizer-for-all-skin-types-spf-50/qxp205132?catid=182957 but I've never looked at EWG ratings.

I like the Neutrogena pure and free baby stick.

OP I know your question was about sunblock but I wanted to let you know that another great way to prevent additional scarring is by massaging the area. I have talked to a couple of doctors about this (DD split her lip a couple of years ago) and asked about Mederma. some of the doctors said Mederma was helpful but they all agreed that massage was important (the instructions on Medermra say to massage it in) I would massage DD's lip 5 times a day for 30 seconds at a time.

Good Luck.

OP, I can't remember if you have Wegmans nearby, but we absolutely loved their Wegmans Kids SPF 50 sunscreen stick this summer. We never had a problem with stinging or irritation on the face.

our plastic surgeon recommended we used the baby/child stick sunscreen for DD#2 when she had the bite on her face. We ended up using the Target brand baby/child stick. I don't know it EWG rating. (We also used a Coolibar hat for her quite a bit instead of or with the sunscreen). Plastic surgeon missed two of the scars on her face a year later, they had healed that well.

(We and she also massaged daily, at first several times a day)
