So dd has wide feet. I knew that and she wears pediped and a few other brands (rockport and elefanten maryjanes). I thought I was doing ok! Took her socks off and she has a blister! Bottom of big toe, almost where many of us (ahem) get callouses.

Took her to the local family owned shoe store in town. He had ONE pair of casual shoes in the ENTIRE STORE that fit her! He had some tennis shoes but I make her dresses and that's pretty much all she wears, so tennis shoes just don't work.

So we have one pair of not so cute stride rite 5 xws that now fit her and I'm broke! $55! He also said SR is making less xws.

Where else can I look that runs wide and is cute?

I think Olly sells brands that run wide, not sure if you have one near you. Also, have to checked zappos and shoebuy, where you can filter your search by width?

Also, crocs makes some cute dressier shoes, and I find they tend to run wide (not sure about extra-wide though, we have the opposite problem here).

New Balance Kids. I like them better than Strude Rites for sneakers.

Pedipeds run true to size in length and wide in the width IME.

See Kai Runs (at least when I bought them for DD1 in 2007 & 2008) they ran wide if you bought the next bigger size. DD1 was out if that brand by the time she was 3 because the 9s were too narrow. I think they have more sizes now though.

Also the instep could be causing issues with width. I figured this out with DD1 when she was 5 and I had ordered her some traditional Velcro NB Kids and I couldn't get the Velcro to go over the top of her foot and her foot moved too much in the wide width shoes.

I'd find a stride rite outlet or order online now that you know here size. All of my boys started walking in 5 XW ( or 5.5XW depending on the boy) and I never paid that much for shoes for them.

I highly recommend See Kai Run shoes. DS2 has wide feet and they were the only shoes he wore until he outgrew the brand!

Keds also makes wide shoes. My DS1 wore navy blue keds as his first "sneakers". http://www.keds.com/store/SiteController/keds/toddler/cat610199/cat610225/trail/31074:W:31084:5.00/subcategory

Naturino is a European brand that runs wide. DD1 is an XW and DD2 is W. I never take them to stores anymore, I just do a big order from Zappos for them to both try on. I usually order about 10 pairs and we keep 2 or 3. It saves us the grief of going in to the shoe store, the girls seeing all these shoes they like and the store never having their size in the cute shoes.
