Ok, not really a MomWear topic, but I figured it's a decent thread placement. DH likes to spend money on his work clothing, but when it comes to jeans, he buys the cheapest thing available and pairs it with sneakers. I would love to buy him a nice pair of jeans and a nice pair of casual shoes to go along. Does anyone have any suggestions for a jeans/shoes combo? He's short, about 5'5" or 5'6", but thin and well built. Also, I know he doesn't like the "bowling shoe" look. Thanks in advance!

You might have to bring him with you to Nordstrom because they do free hems there I believe. My DH is tall (6') and slender and he likes AG protege and also 7 for all mankind bootcuts. He just converted from cheapie jeans to good jeans this summer and he's now a believer!!

I have found some good Lucky ones at Costco. Gap ones look pretty good too. Shoes...well dh wears sneakers and I don't mind. :) He can wear casual shoes with jeans- he doesn't need to look fancy to do house and typical weekend things. :) When he goes out in jeans, like to dinner..., he usually pairs them something like http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/ecco-biarritz-slip-on-loafer/3174102?origin=category-personalizedsort&contextualcategoryid=0&fashionColor=Black&resultback=1432&cm_sp=personalizedsort-_-browseresults-_-1_4_C

Other dad friends wear Converse.

DH wears a pair of Cole Haan slip on loafers he loves. He has had them for a year or two so I can’t find them online. I know the seam goes up the center top of the shoe, but any slip on loafer like that is casual and works well. {eta: shoes similar to this (http://www.zappos.com/ecco-helsinki-slip-on-cocoa-brown)}

His go-to pair of jeans are 7 for all mankind dark wash (he has a straight leg and a wider leg bootcut called Brett in dark wash (http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/7-for-all-mankind-brett-bootcut-jeans-steely-indigo/3309367?origin=category&fashionColor=&resultback=1025)) and 1969 Gap standard fit jeans that actually looks the best on him.

DH gets most of his jeans from Old Navy or JCPenney on sale, but has a nice pair from Banana Republic that are a darker wash and pair well with a button up and sweater we he needs something just a bit better than his typical jeans/t-shirt/hoodie/tennis shoes.

And last night after I posted that we were packing for Thanksgiving and I discovered that 1) He is only willing to wear 3 of the ~10 pair of jeans in his closet so the others are now all in the donation pile, and 2) He does not know where the Banana Republic jeans are -- they are just "gone". <sigh> Why couldn't he have lost the cheap Old Navy jeans?

My DH wears the Levi straight cut jeans (can't remember the number) and i can actually get them at Costco fro time to time for pretty in-expensive.

I know a lot of guys are wearing chukkas like these right now: http://www.zappos.com/clarks-desert-boot-taupe-suede

What's his inseam and waist? Some brands are easier to find in shorter inseams if he's slim.

I only know this after shopping for my dad, who has a short inseam, but a large waist measurement, so it's VERY difficult to find jeans in his size.

my hubby wears levi's from Target mostly. He did have one nicer pair of lucky brand jeans that he liked a lot. I think they were from Costco. I check every time I am there to see if they have them in stock again.

For shoes ... how about sketchers? or Vans? or Converse?

Forgot about the chukka. DH has had these (http://www.johnstonmurphy.com/product.aspx?c=568&pid=66187&VID=75625)for a year and they have held up well.
