Hello,
After reading the Baby Bargin Book, I liked the Philips Avent DECT monitor. I can't figure out the difference between the 560/570 and the 510. Has anyone had any experiences with these monitors or have better suggestions? The most important thing to me is the range, which I know can vary from house to house.
Thank You!

After Google-ing it, I actually think the Walmart website does the best job of explaining all the different features. The 510 seems like their basic model: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Avent-Baby-Monitor-with-DECT-Technology/11993476. The 560 has "soothing" lullabies and a nightlight: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Philips-AVENT-SCD560-10-DECT-Baby-Monitor/24857648. The 570 has the same features as the 560, but also has a "vibration alert": http://www.walmart.com/ip/Philips-AVENT-SCD570-10-DECT-Baby-Monitor-with-Vibration-Alert/24857653. They all have the same range of 330 meters. No personal experience with these monitors, but given a choice between these 3 options, I would choose the basic model. I wouldn't pay extra for a built-in nightlight and lullabies. I recommend picking out your own nightlight (or get a dimmer for the room) and getting the Sleep Sheep as white noise for naptimes: http://www.amazon.com/Cloud-Travel-Machine-Soothing-Sounds/dp/B000J6CDY6/.

I personally love and recommend the AngelCare baby monitor, but they're going through a recall right now, so it's not really an option.

I have the Philips DECT monitor with nightlight, lullabies, temperature alarm, etc. We bought it 5 years ago when DS was born, and we're still using it. It's a good monitor with excellent range, and it doesn't interfere with other electronics.

I would definitely get the most basic model. Ours has a view screen on the parent handset, and the view screen is pretty illegible now. There's also something strange going on with the temperature numbers, but we never cared about that feature. We've never once used the lullabies or nightlight. (The sleep sheep is great, btw.) The more basic your model, the fewer things there are to go haywire. All you really need is the basic monitor.
