He likes games like chess, scrabble, monopoly. He's also loves learning about wars - I think Revolutionary war in particular, if that helps at all?!

Any suggestions on other board games my friend's son might like? I always seem to draw him from my group of friends. Every year we draw two names, and I've gotten him the past several years! He's the hardest (and oldest) kid to buy for out of our group of 8!

What about Risk? That's war and strategy. We actually played it with DDs a few months ago and surprisingly we all liked it!

How about Ticket to Ride?

Settlers of Catan is one of our family favorites. Not war but a fun strategy game. DS (13) does love Risk as well.

Risk or Stratego.

Settlers of Catan is a huge hit in our house and among DS1 and his friends (DH and I introduced it to him - we played a lot in college with our friends). He also really wanted LOTR Risk. I think he also plays Stratego. We have Ticket to Ride but it isn't a favourite for some reason.

I was also going to suggest Risk.

Carcassonne is also good. A "quick" version of Carcassonne is Castle Keep by Gamewright.

Risk would be my suggestion as well. I don't even get into war type games, but I've had fun playing that. Be forewarned that it takes a long time though!

Munchkin. Big hit here. Forbidden Island is good too bc of strategy involved.

Thanks for all the suggestions - Dh would love some of these games. It looks like I've got a few to choose from. Now I just have to make sure he doesn't have the one I end up going with!
