I need to supplement both calcium and magnesiu,. I had been told by my dr to do a 2:1 ratio of calcium and magnesium. However, I just read some other threads here that talk about absorption competition when they are taken together...so, together or separately. If it matters, I will only do calcium citrate as opposed to other forms of calcium. thanks!

My Dr told me to take the magnesium before I go to bed. I take calcium in the morning.

My doc told me separate when I mentioned to her that I had a cal-mag vitamin. I was told the calcium blocks mag absorption.

Very interesting and good to know!

Anyone know anything about what kind of magnesium is best? Do you do a 2:1 ratio when you do them separately or do you do something different? Thanks!

I take chelated mag. It's supposed to be easier to digest and less likely to cause diarrhea (which is why PP says she was told to take hers at night. I take 250-500 mg a day. I do not take calcium currently.
