I'm curling my fine, straight hair for a holiday party and realized I need something to help my hair cooperate and hold the curl a little better. Suggestions? My normal routine involves just a towel and a brush, :bag: so I appreciate any ideas!!

I used Argan oil, but that's kind of expensive.

My stylist uses Bumble & Bumble "prep" and styling lotion.

I was just going to post the same question. This is not for me but for our niece who is obsessed with curling her thick, straight hair :)

I use this Paul Mitchell spray: http://www.paulmitchell.com/PRODUCTS/PAULMITCHELL/EXPRESSSTYLE/Pages/HotOffThePress.aspx. I use it before I curl my hair and then use it afterward to "set" it. It smells amazing. I bought mine at Ulta.

Thick curly hair my go to is KMS hot flex cream. To hold the curl when curling fair try KMS spray wax. I have a slight obsession with KMS if you can't tell :)

Thanks for the ideas! This is really helpful.

For the poster who mentioned argan oil, how do you use it? I use it as a facial moisturizer but can't visualize using it on my hair without turning into a grease ball.

I'd use a thermal setting spray. I use this one by biolage:

It's kind of like a heat-activate setting spray. I would NOT use argan oil on fine straight hair. I have fine straight hair and that would equal greasy disaster! I would use a good hairsray for finishing as well. I use tresseme ultra fine for everyday but for a special occasion I like elnet.

I use a drop or 2 on my hands & work through towel-dried hair before blow-drying.

HOWEVER, I have thick, wavy hair, prone to dryness & frizz, so it works fine for me!
