I'm stumped when it comes to my 3yo niece this year. Her birthday is right around Christmas, so I need double the gifts! lol The problem is that I just can't remember what DD liked at that age AND I don't want to get something all that large size-wise. My MIL has purchased most of the items off of the list that my SIL sent to both of us, so I need to go it alone! Budget is probably $50ish for each event.

Any ideas?

What kinds of things were on the wish list? I think that would help narrow things down.

I have a 3-year-old here, but she's really into pirates and superheroes right now.

She also loves Doc McStuffins.

Items on the list include: dress-up, tutu, boa, books, clothes, stickers, construction toys, unbreakable piggy bank, nightgown/doll combo

Piggy bank is still up for grabs, but I'm not having much luck finding a nice one that's unbreakable. And I'd like to get something a little more than just a piggy bank.

Is there any room for a personalized item? A hooded towel or a bag she can use to hold those dress up toys with initials or first name? A small camelbak water bottle? My 3 yo really likes stuffed animals, playdough stuff, household things sized just for him and things that are just his alone (a special cup, bowl, mug).

I just got my 3.5yo niece a superhero cape with her initial from Superflykids. My kids LOVED their capes when they were younger! If you don't want to personalize the color, you can pick from the pre made ones (there are hundreds) and still get it in time for Christmas. I picked pink cape and sparkly star and I think a turquoise initial. Did red with a lightening bolt and blue initial for my nephew.

How about a craft kit like this Alex Busy Box and some clothes.

If she like puzzles, you can order a personalized name puzzle of her name. The grandparents got my DD one last year. She is 3 now and still plays with it, plus it helps her learn/recognize the alphabet. Another personalized idea is get her a backpack and you could put her initials on it. Pottery Barn Kids has some great ones. Books are always wonderful too.

For dress-ups, we really like the dresses from Little Dress Up Shop. Their quality is beyond compare. No itchy fabrics and machine washable. Highly recommend. A pink tutu happens to be their special of the day, good through 10pm EST: http://www.littledressupshop.com/girls-pink-with-white-tutu-for-dance-and-play.html. The ballerina leg warmers are also available as an add-on at a discount. Shipping is free and you can save $2 with coupon code THANKS.

I'm giving my 3yo niece this book for Christmas: http://www.amazon.com/P-Princess-Disney-Annie-Auerbach/dp/1423164717/. We love the Melissa and Doug stickers the best. For construction toys, I'm giving my 2.5yo this set for Christmas: http://www.amazon.com/Learning-Resources-LER5020-Candy-Construction/dp/B006ZMGR5E/. No clue on a piggy bank. Kohl's has some doll & me nightgowns: http://www.kohls.com/search.jsp?search=Doll+nightgown&submit-search=.

The problem with the wish list is that ALL of the items except for the piggy bank have been taken!

Well, that's a stumper! I Google'd it and came up with these options from Amazon: a cute vinyl one from Schylling: http://www.amazon.com/Schylling-RPB-Rubber-Piggy-Bank/dp/B0007CUU9W/. And a 4 separate compartment plastic pig: http://www.amazon.com/Money-Savvy-Generation-LMSP-Blue-Pig/dp/B0002HRWBQ/.

I still think you can't go wrong with more dress up clothes! ;)

DD1 is 3.5. She is really into Disney movies right now, dress up clothes (especially the jewelry and crowns and shoes), Disney princess dolls (the Barbie style ones), baby dolls, and art supplies. She also really likes games (Hoot Owl Hoot, Candyland, Memory).
