We went to see Santa this am and DS asked for one gift that was expected and then added a surprise - a rocket ship. I have not idea what he is envisioning...my DD says it is bc he liked a rocketship/robot toy that Donny on Doc McStuffins has. Obviously I can't get that one! Any ideas for this request?

My 4 yo DD frequently makes rocket ships out of large cardboard boxes. She decorates them, etc. if he's looking for one he can sit in, this might be a fun DIY gift.

This one maybe? http://www.kohls.com/product/prd-901191/discovery-kids-5-ft-cardboard-rocket-ship.jsp

Or we have got a lot of mileage out of this one, though I think it's pricy for the quality (doors don't stay on well)

We have one like the ELC one linked here (except its more colorful). DD2 (3.5 yrs) plays w it a lot but I also think its pricey for what you get. It has a cool countdown and blast off sound effect, 3 aliens, 2 astronauts and a moon buggy.

I'm on the hunt for one too - have been debating between the ELC one PPs mentioned and this one from CP Toys http://www.cptoy.com/space-mission-rocket-ship. I thought the ELC one might be better with the handle on the side - easier to make fly, lol - it was cheaper on Amazon a week or so ago ($44 ish I think?) so I have been watching to see if it goes back down. But the doors falling off thing sounds annoying and almost every review also mentions it...

My nephew has this one http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Imaginext-Space-Shuttle-Tower/dp/B001W1R0KE and DS loves it

My DS was really into rockets about 6 months ago. He has the Imaginext one and plays with it a lot. I found this one on Amazon also

DS also played with this little Playmobil one at a museum and he loved it. Might be a good option of your son is wanting something small he can carry around. My DS loves that episode of Doc Mcstuffins but I can't remember if the rocket is big or small?

The local independent toy store has this one http://www.amazon.com/Early-Learning-Centre-EC113398-Rocket/dp/B0032O3I9Q/?tag=vglnk-c165-20
And it is pretty impressive in person. However, they have it in the <2 section. I'm not sure how long it would keep interest or if a 3.5 year old would be close to outgrowing it.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I worry that he may outgrow some of them (like the early learning and playmobil 123 ones) soon. I like the Imaginext one, but it is quite pricey. I had already picked up the Imaginext green lantern jet....any chance that could pass as a "rocketship"?

You might want to keep an eye out for a deal on the Imaginext space shuttle. I know there have been some imaginext deals in the past. We just gave it to our 4 yr old for Hanukkah and he loves it - as does his 6 yr old brother! I actually bought it last year during the holidays from walmart for about $20.

DS got this one for his 4th bday and it was a huge hit. He had never seen it before and was so excited when he opened it.

I was thinking the imaginext one was discontinued based on the fact that it isn't for sale on the FP website anymore and the price is so inflated on Amazon. I haven't seen it in stores either...is it still sold in stores? Where?

I saw a couple at Toys R Us a few weeks ago. I think that set has been discontinued so it's probably hit or miss if you find them in stores. I know my cousin got DSs at Walmart last year on BF.

We have and love the Green Toys one - my almost 6 year old still plays with it.
