I am looking for an inexpensive white twin bed for DS's room to match his nursery furniture - I'm going to replace all of the furniture in a few years, so don't want to spend much now. I really like this Ikea Malm bed for the design and price - but I'm hoping to put a pop-up trundle underneath, and not sure there will be enough clearance. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00214548/

Does anyone have this? Do you think there is room for a trundle?

My DS has a twin in black. I just measured and it's about 5 inches from the ground to the bottom of the side rail. Pretty low.

We got the Flaxa twin with headboard & pullout bed for DS2's room. They also make a cute footboard with a shelf and pull-out compartment, but we didn't have space in the room for that:

The bed is a little high for DS2 but I already had a cheap step stool from target, that matched the white color exactly. He uses that to get up into bed. We've used the trundle a dozen times (DS1 likes to "sleep over" in DS2's room) and I'm pretty happy with it, it rolls smoothly. It *just* fits under the Flaxa bed though so if you have thick carpeting it might be a little tricky to manouver it back into place.

Thank you both! Carolinacool, sounds like there wouldn't be enough clearance. Pepper, thanks for the link to the Flaxa - it didn't show up when I searched for twin beds. That is perfect for what I need!
