Christmas Tip for House Cleaners

I know it's customary to tip an amount equal to one cleaning at Christmas, but am wondering -- is that total, or for each person? Our service sends a team of two to clean.

I tip once for the whole team, and let them figure out how to split it. I figure that I pay once per cleaning and they split it somehow, so if I tip once, they will split it and each person will come away with the equivalent of one extra payment.
