UPDATED with links to new ideas:

Do you have an anniversary ring? If so, what kind did you get? Any suggestions on good internet retailers I should check out?

I've been looking around at the different eternity bands and I really like those... but I've also been looking at various ruby rings even though that technically isn't a traditional anniversary ring. I don't think it really matters so I'm just looking for something unique.

Here are some examples of looks I like... though I'd want platinum and a real ruby if I went that direction:

I have a ring that was an anniversary gift. But not what you are looking for. I needed a plain band for every day wear (my real wedding ring is a wrap with diamonds and the setting is somewhat fragile and very pointy. Not good with small children). So I have a plain silver and gold band from Sundance that I wear all the time. It actually gets compliments which surprises me given how plain it is, though I love it.

Anyway, I always drool over Sundance jewelry so I'd at least look there for fun.

Check out the Pricescope forums. You'll have lots of eye candy! It's like the BBB for jewelry. :)

I have a 5 year and a 10 year ring (I didn't ask for either but apparently he has a notion about when I "should" get certain kinds of jewelry.) Anyway, the first ring was a sapphire and diamond band from Blue Nile and the more recent one was a natural ruby and diamond band from some other place...I'm having trouble remembering the name, it was more obscure. I love both but I think the natural ruby and diamond ring is my favorite. I think it is really striking but I think part of that is because he paid more for the rubies to be high quality and natural.

Yes, I have a 10 yr anniversary band with 5 diamonds in it. I love it and actually wear it as my everyday wedding band, because my wedding band is so thin, it's barely noticeable.

Nope. I figured they were for big anniversaries, like 20+.

We had lunch with MIL and FIL and she mentioned her ring isn't her wedding ring, she got it on their 21st anniversary. DH asked his dad about his ring, he got it on their 20th anniversary. Guess who forgot to give his wife a big anniversary present!

I looked for rubies lately at Tiffany, and found out that there are lots of issues getting them right now due to the Human Rights violations in Burma... I am still trying to figure out what I will get instead, as I was trying to get a July birthstone.

:yeahthat: and that is DH is thinking the same thing. My parents have been married for 40 yrs. and my mom still doesn't have a diamond ring.

OP, I clicked on your links above, and just wanted to point out that you need to think about whether or not it's comfortable to wear a band that has diamonds all the way around it. I personally, do not like bands like that, and was really glad that DH got me a band where there were just diamonds on top, b/c I do not like feeling diamonds around the side of my fingers and at the bottom of my finger by my palm. My mom had gotten one like the one you posted in your link and realized after she got it that she didn't like having stones all around her band either, and now she never wears it. The ring I got looks like this one... http://www.whiteflash.com/wedding-bands/five-stone-shared-prong-diamond-wedding-band-813.htm DH got me the platinum band with 5 diamonds, he cannot remember the size, he thinks they are 1/4 carat each. Anyway, whiteflash.com is where he got my ring and my brother also bought his wife's engagement and wedding rings there and were really happy. If you need the name of the sales person that we used, PM me. My DH and brother were both very impressed with her and said that they would buy from the same sales lady again.

That's my wedding band only in yellow gold. Hence why I probably don't need an anniversary band. ;) I have smaller diamonds. When the ring was originally made, I think I had 1/4 carat diamonds in there but I found them too big. I know... only girl to turn down big diamonds.

I've envisioning something like this for my 15th wedding anniversary. I prefer a comfort style solid band and channel set diamonds for everyday wear. I will probably buy from a local jeweler so I can try it on first as I'm picky about fit.

I looked at some rediculously huge diamonds when DH worked in the Silicon Valley and some of them just looked too much on my tiny hands. I have a 1/2 carat center stone and maybe 3/4s or the right cut 1 carat might look okay, but anything bigger than that just looks awful on my tiny hands. I initially thought I wanted a emerald cut solitaire ring and it was just too much.

Very timely! DH and I were just talking about this. My wedding ring and engagement ring barely fit anymore and I never wear them (for a few years now). I wanted to "upgrade" my engagement ring and DH was totally not sentimental about it, so gave me the go-ahead. I love the halo style solitaires (obviously not an anniversary ring per se), but my bigger problem is that my rings are all yellow gold, including my grandmother's wedding band that I love for sentimental reasons. Do the metals have to match? I am having a hard time with that - the rings now are all just about always set in white gold/platinum and they used to all be yellow gold. What is the rule on anniversary rings and metal?

The style I like is: http://www.bluenile.com/halo-diamond-engagement-ring-14k-white-gold_25642

I have 3 rings with diamonds all around. They don't bother me from comfort point of view, but I have to take them off before do anything messy eg. lotion, cooking. My main wedding ring is like this pic of tulips and gunk gets stuck in the gaps.

http://www.etsy.com/listing/160784332/tulip-pattern-diamond-eternity-band-in?utm_source=google&utm_medium=product_listing_promoted&utm_campaign=vintage_high&gclid=CMqlwZiwp7sCFRSIfgod_0gAsw

The other 2 rings are thin diamond eternity rings - got them for my 5th anniversary to keep the wedding ring on as it was too lose after had DS (don't know why I lost weight in my ring finger!) and my wedding band cannot be resized. Those rings aren't an issue for getting dirty. They're like this: http://www.betteridge.com/ivanka-trump-thin-diamond-eternity-band-0.25-ct-tw/p/2469/

I have a toothbrush I use to keep the main ring clean. I love my ring, wouldn't change it for anything, but any eternity style with holes will need to be taken off more to keep it clean.

I had my 10 year anniversary this summer and I requested and received an anniversary band.

I got a pave eternity band, like this:
French Pavé Diamond Eternity Ring (http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-eternity-ring-platinum_17388)

I love it and rarely take it off. I wear it exercising, to the nail salon, whatever. I thought I would wear it with my wedding ring, but I have ended up wearing it in place of my wedding ring with my engagement ring. I'm very happy with it!

My good friend got a shared prong eternity band and that has a much more raised profile with the same TCW. With the pave setting, the stones sit farther down. I think that makes it more comfortable.

Because I have 3 diamond eternity rings already, this is what I would like
http://www.bluenile.com/garland-ruby-diamond-wedding-ring-plaitnum_31861

Do you wear the anniversary ring on your right hand? I love my 3 eternity rings on my left ring finger and I wouldn't want to take those off.

Both my wedding ring and 10yr anniversary ring look like this. I have them on either side of my engagement ring. They are fused together (best thing I ever did! I was sick of them all spinning around all the time).

I don't have an anniversary band and we just celebrated our 15th. These are pretty! I'll just drool over yours for at least 5 more years! ;)

I got something similar to this for my 10th anniversary. I wear it in place of my wedding band, which was just a plain white gold band. If you plan on getting something that adds to your wedding set vs. a right hand ring, I would definitely recommend going to a local jeweler and trying some things on to see what is comfortable and sits well with your other rings. I thought it would be easy for me since my engagement ring is so plain, but certain styles didn't sit very well or compliment my original ring the way I thought they would just from looking at pictures.

Thanks for all the replies! I was hoping you guys would like to talk about jewelry! :)

I edited my original post with new links that I'm interested in... haven't even been looking at price because I want to get an idea for the general style I want then I'll start figuring out if I can get a good deal. Don't want to spend a crazy amount of money, but it's special so want to get something nice.

These two are my favorite styles so far:

http://www.brilliantearth.com/Luxe-Eternity-Twisted-Vine-Diamond-Ring-Platinum-BE254LE/
https://www.etsy.com/listing/84848408/platinum-3-row-micro-pave-diamond

Unfortunately, I don't think either of them can be resized, right? (since the diamonds go all the way around) Thanks also for mentioning the need to factor in comfort and how difficult it will be to keep clean. I'd like to have something that I could leave on all the time and only take off once in a while like if at the pool or making cookies etc. My current wedding band is one of the 5 stone rings, but the diamonds are very small and I don't even notice I have it on because it is so thin.

I have a 1.55 round solitaire set on a plain platinum band and my wedding band is platinum band with chanel set diamonds. I love my rings!!! So for our recent 15th anniversary, I considered getting another band to match but prices have really gone up!!! I didn't want to spend that much money. And I also considered getting a new setting form my solitaire but that would have been super pricey and I really do love my ring the way it is. So I got a David Yurman ring for my right hand. I am petite so I got the noblesse ring with a morganite stone. It is a perfect, everyday right hand ring! It sparkles but is not too much! The morganite is a rare stone and apparently signifies divine love....so that was perfect! It also is neutral enough that is goes with everything! Oh and the ring was $950. And DH can also get me more yurman for other special occasions too!! Good luck selecting a ring!

Oh and my wedding band with channel set diamonds had to be custom made since my fingers are so small.....so yes, buying a pre made band and getting is sized is probably not an option.

Not unless u count my wedding ring as one. DH and I got married young (no I wasn't preggo lol) and we could only afford gold bands. So along the way he did buy me a nice ring or two (I don't dig jewelry - too much bugs me) that I used to wear bc I felt bad if I didn't.

Anyway it was about into our 15th year that he gave me an actual diamond wedding ring to go with my band.

I would never be into an "anniversary ring" reminds me of a "push present" and is not my style. Again I don't like jewelry and wear the same diamond studs he gave me every single day!

I was married with an antique eternity band DH and I found in London. I LOVE it! It had been resized at some point in the past. I can see, though no one else would ever notice, where a diamond was added, so it can be done. You just need a very skilled jeweler. That's a question to ask when you go to purchase the ring. In my case, the eternity band was large, but my engagement ring held it on. I wanted it that way so that when I was pregnant I could still wear my wedding band. That's exactly what happened. I'm not a fan of big stones, so my engagement ring is not a classic solitaire. It's a unique design from a jewelry designer in NY. It has pave diamonds halfway around the band and around the center stone as well as two emerald cut (rectangular) diamonds and two additional but smaller round stones. It looks modern by itself and antique paired with my wedding band. I've got a plenty blingy finger without any large stones.

My mom was married with a gold wedding band and a nice solitaire engagement ring. She got an eternity band later and then upgraded her engagement ring to a five carat stone. She took the stone from her original engagement ring and made it into a pendant necklace that she wears all the time. I have no idea where her original wedding band is. I've never liked the idea of replacing my original rings with "upgrades," which is why I wed with my diamond band. I know in Jewish tradition you need to use a plain gold band and that many women get a diamond band later, but I think, for me, if I got a new ring years into my marriage, I might wear it on another finger or in addition to my original band. I don't think I'd ever want to ditch the originals.

No/ DH talked about it but I cannot see spending that kind of money when we have young children, a house and accompanying expenses. I'd be more open to one down the line like 25th anniversary.

No I don't. We will celebrate our 10th this coming summer and way back when we got married I told DH that I'd love this ring for our 10th: http://www.cornellsjewelers.com/shop3.cfm?subcat=85&bycategory=12&myproduct=8362. My engagement and wedding rings are platinum and there was no way he/we were spending that kind of money for a wedding band so my engagement ring is a princess cut solitare and my band is just a knife edge platinum band. Hence my jokingly telling DH that he could hold off on the diamond band until year 10. I don't foresee me getting an anniversary band. Like Ceepa, it just doesn't seem like a good use of money for us now.

PS: my knife edge band looks like this: http://www.cornellsjewelers.com/shop3.cfm?subcat=139&bycategory=12&myproduct=5202 I needed a knife edge in order for it to sit up next to my engagement ring because in that setting the prongs start from down the sides and a regular band would get pushed away by them. But it's thin, as is my engagement ring band so it leaves nice room for an anniversary band on the other side :)
