Recommendations? Easy to use is key.
Discovered after twice thinking the boys had hit the tree and knocked water out that ours is leaking.
Grrrrrr!

Krinner stand genie (http://www.amazon.com/Krinner-Christmas-Tree-Genie-Stand/dp/B000XRQUSQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1387201517&sr=8-1&keywords=krinner+christmas+tree+stand) - someone on this board recommended it and said it would be an investment, but worth it.
It was worth it. You put the tree in and just pump the lever until it grabs the tree securely. No more trying to screw the screws into the tree to secure it plus it holds a ton of water and doesn't move or budge when our toddler messes with the tree. We got the XXL because we get a large tree and it was $82 prime shipping then; not sure where to get it in stores as that linked price + shipping is crazy. Thanks to whoever suggested it! DH loved it.

I'm the one who suggested it, perhaps among others, but we LOVE ours! Because it was so expensive, it took me years, literally years, to pull the trigger. I urge you not to wait!!! We're on our 6th year of using it, I think, and it makes putting up the tree and getting it just right such a breeze! Also, it's incredibly sturdy. You'll never have to worry again about it toppling. I like, too, that we can padlock it so there's no way the kids can release it themselves. It holds a LOT of water, too.

Yup I was persuaded to spend the $$ after my sister got one and I was so glad I did! I think I spent around $100 and thought it was crazy at the time. But it's our third Xmas with it and it is money so well spent! We got the XXL one too. Literally takes three minutes to put up the tree. If you take a step back and decide it's not straight and you want to move it, just release the lever and start over.

Best part is no more frustration and it's super sturdy. Your tree won't be going anywhere!

We have the "Bowling's Last Stand". DH finally was fed up with stands that didn't work, and we got this at our local garden center. They make ones that can hold 30' trees! They are expensive, but they are sturdy, easy to use, and strong. And hold a ton of water.

ETA: we had either the Krinner, or one that was similar, and liked it until it broke. Can't remember how it broke though. I'm sure DH did something to it. :) But that's why he wanted a metal one.

We have this one that was $15 at Lowes. We just got our second one and the first one lasted at least 8 yrs. . It holds a lot of water and hasn't leaked yet.
