So I was just going to run at lunch and grab a MC/V gift card for a family member who just started college. I've given him MC/V GC's in the past and never really thought about it much. I didn't know that you had to know the exact value left on the card if you don't use it all.
So here is my dilemma. I don't want to send a check. He's a College kid and may not have easy access to a bank - plus I know I'd forget and lose checks all the time at that age.
I don't want to send cash - in an envelope clear across the country. Sending Cash in the mail just isn't a great idea IMO.
So what do I send? I thought about a gas GC, but we don't have the same gas stations around here.
Are there other GC's that are generic and can be used at any store that aren't a hassle?
