I received an email from PTA in DD's school that they're in need of activities to do during lunch recess. Couple of items they're looking for is puzzles for 5-7 age group and playing card games like UNO. I looked at few Ravensburg puzzles but they all seem to be targeted for 8 years and older group. And I have no idea what card games are popular among this age group.

Any ideas would be really appreciated.

Thank you

I'm buying this for a class of 6 year olds:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006X9KUKM/ref=oh_details_o00_s01_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Other puzzles Amazon suggests for that age range:
USA map http://www.amazon.com/Melissa-Doug-USA-Floor-Puzzle/dp/B000GKAU1I/ref=sr_1_1?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1387230540&sr=1-1&keywords=puzzles
Floor Puzzles: http://www.amazon.com/Melissa-Doug-Safari-Floor-Puzzle/dp/B000BYNTYY/ref=sr_1_2?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1387230754&sr=1-2&keywords=puzzles
Ravensburger 60pc puzzles: http://www.amazon.com/Ravensburger-Construction-Crowd-Piece-Puzzle/dp/B000NYPDIC/ref=sr_1_3?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1387230771&sr=1-3&keywords=puzzles

Etc.

Honestly... I am curius that they want puzzles. I'd figure the pieces would go missing easily and then kids would get frustrated.

ETA: In the K-2nd grade Extended Day my son is at they play Mancala. No essential pieces to lose. (can buy the "counters" in bulk and just refill as needed).

Thank you, your link to the puzzles gave lot of options. Should I get 35pc puzzles instead of 100pcs? I'm wondering whether they'll be able to finish a 100pc puzzle during recess.

35 pieces seems more doable but I'm wondering if they would leave the puzzles out for another group? I would probably do smaller since you don't know their intent. :)

We love Ravensburger puzzles here! I know what you mean about the pieces and them going missing, but I can see them requesting puzzles and the like for rainy/snowy days when kids are stuck inside. A puzzle is something a few kids could work on together. For 5-7 year olds, I'd get at least 60 pcs or more. The other day my DS (will be 4 next month) completed a 60 pc Ravensburger puzzle all by himself, and it took him a little less than an hour, so i'm sure a few school age kids could do it much quicker.

That 60pc construction one PP linked to looks pretty good. It says 4 and up.
