I found one! Here's the link to the one I just bought. With tax and shipping it came to just under $100 for the three of them. I'm pretty happy about that. :) Sometimes when you live in a small place a small piece of attractive organization is worth it. :)

I live in a small house. My laundry area is in the kitchen nook (behind accordion doors). This is the only eating area in the house.

The best place for laundry would be a wall in the kitchen/nook that has dimensions of 36 inches long and 12 inches deep. I'd like to have 3 separate spaces to sort laundry for 3 different loads.

I'm looking for either a small triple hamper (that can still hold a good amount) or 3 small hampers that can go next to each other. Although it can be slightly bigger than the stated dimensions, any extra will stick out into the room. For that reason, a triple sorter that is 14" wide and 37" long is probably okay

Our style is fairly casual, however I'd like to avoid industrial looking laundry sorters. This is something that would be visible to guests who are eating at our house.

Here's some examples of what almost works and what does not work:

This style is what I don't want to see, although I'm sure it is functional:

http://www.amazon.com/Honey-Can-Do-SRT-01235-Heavy-Duty-Triple-Laundry/dp/B001F51AM6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1387408733&sr=8-2&keywords=triple+sorter

The style isn't right and it is also too wide by four whole inches.

Also, this is too casual--I don't want to be able to see clothes at all:

http://www.amazon.com/DAZZ-Deluxe-Pop-Up-Hamper-Black/dp/B002V91994/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1387408869&sr=8-2&keywords=pop+up+hamper

This hamper from OXO

http://www.amazon.com/OXO-Flip-In-Hamper-Gray-Green/dp/B004QZBEDM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1387408915&sr=8-2&keywords=OXO+hamper

And this one from Container Store:

http://www.containerstore.com/shop/laundry/hampersBaskets?productId=10025355&N=81283

These are fine from an appearance standpoint. I might even choose my color scheme from what will go with the laundry basket! I don't have any "color" in the room yet. However, they are 14" so if they are all lined up together, they will be six inches too big (it will stick out and block a walkway).

I like the looks of this one but the reviews say it is too small to be functional:

This one is the right size but I'm not crazy about the look:

This one is okay but I'm not loving it:

Any good ideas or products you recommend?

TIA!

How about something like this? It comes in single, double and triple widths. I don't have any direct experience with it, just recalled seeing it before.

We have the Container store hamper you linked. I did not like it for laundry because it's way too tall. I'm about 5'7" and had to do a handstand to get to the bottom. It's a fabric covered cardboard, so the edges get bent from you leaning into it. However, they make great recycling bins because they fit the huge blue bags our county uses!

Would this work? It's similar to the CS one but shorter in front. You could always turn it "backwards" to hide more: http://www.wayfair.com/Richards-Homewares-Laundry-Bin-VUQA1337.html

There's a pin on Pinterest using an IKEA shoe bin as a laundry hamper: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/428475352017784251/
The beech color isn't available here, but here's the selection: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/categories/departments/hallway/10456/

Is this where you're storing the laundry or just sorting it? I think you have boys. If they're going to play sports or you know, just grow older later, their laundry starts to smell funky. Girl sporty stuff does too, of course, but somehow boys have an extra level of funk. Just something to think about if it will be stored in the eating area. ;)

This one is so good looking but has been critiqued for being too small. I'm considering it!

I LOVE Ikea and am intrigued by that setup. Actually, that would work great outside my kid's rooms where there is an extremely narrow "well". I think it is a little TOO small to be my main laundry container though. To answer your question, yes, it is the main area where we keep laundry. In addition to the 3 laundry baskets (or compartments) that will go outside the accordion doors, I have a large plastic basket that sits between the washer and dryer for wet towels and "grungies" as I call them. This gets washed almost daily at our house as we use towels and rags in lieu of paper products. I'm hoping anything really smelly (including baby laundry and toddler laundry, wet sheets etc.) will just in the washer before our dinner in the evening. I'll just have to make sure that is part of the daily routine so we don't have those unpleasant odors while we eat! Really, nothing much to be done about it unfortunately. But we'll deal. :)

So I found some that I think might work perfectly. They are decent looking and just the right size:

http://www.wayfair.com/Oriental-Furniture-Laundry-Hamper-JH09-130-BLK-OFN2637.html?piid[]=10191566

The only problem is that they are expensive. Because I live in such a small place, though, sometimes I find myself paying a bit more than I like but justify it in our MUCH smaller monthly rent amount.

What do you think?

what is above your washer dryer? could you get a shelf that hangs down from the ceiling and put 3 laundry baskets on it?

like this style

http://www.homedepot.com/p/ClosetMaid-24-in-Hanging-Wire-Shelf-1048/100162661#

but just a little bigger.

eta: we seem to have really stinky lanudry....between toddlers messy eating, potty training, kids playing outside, dh working outside, workout clothes. i want them in something plastic with holes in the sides.

These look nice, but don't have a cover. I would want a cover in my eating area.
