Minneapolis-St. Paul in summer?

We have to go to a wedding the last weekend in July in St. Paul, MN. We can either fly in and out or stay for a while. I'd like to stay because we have a free place to stay. We will be there at least 3 days: travel day/rehersal dinner--wedding & evening reception--travel day. We could add days on either end. Anything else we could do (besides Mall of America) to make a vacation out of it?

We drive through MSP on road trips every couple years and always stop at a zoo - there are a few to choose from. I'm sure there are tons of things to do though - don't they have a cool kids museum there? (Assuming you will have your Dd along of course :) )
