Anyone else want to play again?

I have enjoyed doing this the last few years even. We moved last year and I dropped the ball. Anyone else want to play?

If you haven't played before: We count anything that has been hanging around the house unloved that exits your house. Items can be sold, recycled, given away, or trashed. Clothes, books, gear, paperwork that you know needs to go but you haven't been able to let go of, expired food from your pantry, food you pass on to someone else because you know you aren't going to use it. If you see it and think I really need to get rid of that, it counts. People can guesstimate how many items are in bags and boxes if you don't want to count - just eyeball it and decide how many things you think are inside.

I kept a tablet near my phone and add tally marks as things move from my house to the garage donate pile. That worked for me but do whatever works for you. I would post the list to this thread and total it. Next time you can just quote your last post and add the new items and get a new total.

Have fun reclaiming your home!!

I'd like to do this again this year too. I completely stopped last year when we had the new baby, remodeled, then moved across country in the span of two months. We'll be moving from our leased home to a purchased home this year so plenty of opportunity to get rid of things again. I dropped off a huge bag of baby clothes and books last week but failed to count it. Lots of other baby stuff to go this year. Sold my first item of the year too. So I'll start out with an estimate.

Year to date to 1/19
Thrift/ freecycle:
90 items baby clothes
10 books

Sold:
1 OOP book that I picked up for free :) $70

Trash/ recycling:

I haven't been good about writing down what exactly I'm getting rid of (I have a chart with boxes we're filling in), but we just passed the 500-item mark when I went through my jewelry box...I had stuff in there from junior high! At our garage sale last month, I sold 200 pieces of kids' clothing (at 25 cents apiece) and various other items and made about $70, and I've sold a few of my clothes on craigslist for about $30 altogether. So I'm only at $100 altogether, not counting donation write-offs. I've taken one load to Goodwill (about 200 clothes/toys/books), and I'm collecting another box to donate. My kids are really into it and were super excited when we went over 500! I've been saving all of DS' clothes for the past 7 years, hoping we'd have another boy, so I have a lot to get rid of.
