I have a $100 Patagonia gift card.
Should I buy this:
http://www.patagonia.com/us/product/womens-better-sweater-fleece-coat?p=25655-1
or this:
http://www.patagonia.com/us/product/womens-low-sky-parka?p=28391-1-303&pcc=1148
or hold out for this to come back in stock in my size (although it probably wont):
http://www.patagonia.com/us/product/womens-downtown-loft-parka?p=28466-1
TIA!

I like the first - and I think it's a dress up & dress down style which is a bonus, no?

Well, it depends on how warm you need it. The first you listed is fleece, while the other two are insulated. The third has a hood and water proof finish, which the others do not have.

I "need" all of them;) I'm in the Midwest. The last one would make the most sense for our weather, but I could certainly put the other two to good use throughout the year as well.

FYI, the better sweaters are in no way heavy duty - they're lighter weight fleece in sweater styling. Think sweater coat rather than parka substitute. For my weather (Bay Area), that's what I'd get!

I have the first two and had a Down With It in the past. Love both the Better Sweater Coat and the Low Sky. Very different. I see myself using the Low Sky for a rainy 45 degree tball game in April. It's definitely not a Chicago winter coat but could certainly could be an early winter/later winter/early spring coat. The Better Sweater Coat is a perfect dressier fleece. Very versatile. The Down With It is no more impressive than LE coat you could buy, so I don't really recommend it.

I love the better sweater coat, I actually just ordered one for myself! I'm in SoCal though, so I don't need a heavier coat very often.

I agree with pp that if you NEED a heavy coat then you should get one of the insulated ones. If you aren't trying to fit a specific need and just want the cutest one then go for the sweater coat. I just purchased two new jackets recently because I couldn't decide between the warmer one for winter or the lighter jacket that's water resistant with a hood. I really needed both :)

I'd get the first or third picks. Given the way this winter is going, I would probably opt for the third option, but the first one would be nice for spring and fall.
