I've got the itch to run a half marathon. I used to run regularly but stopped when DS2 was born. I would love to get back to it. I can run a mile currently and am wondering if aiming to run a half marathon in November is crazy. Thoughts? TIA

Starting training now? November is totally do-able for a half! Heck, November would be totally do-able for a full, IME.
I found a half-marathon training schedule here:

You'll have to work your way up to 3 and 4 mile runs a couple times a week, figure out how you'll hydrate adequately, and a bunch of other logistical issues, but, yeah, November should be no problem.

Totally doable! Go for it!
I was a non-runner and trained for a 26.2 when I was inspired by a book that I found in the library one day. The Non-Runner's Marathon Trainer was wonderful! It touches on all aspects of long-distance running - working your way up to 30 min of running as well as the weekly training (physical, mental, etc). I don't see why you couldn't use it for a 13.1! Good luck!!!!
