Help: "Tall" boots for a short mama

I'm hoping to take advantage of end-of-season sales and find a replacement for my tall black boots. I'm barely 5 feet and my calves aren't skinny (I'm a size 10 or 12, depending on brand), plus boots tend to hit the wider part of my calf in a different place so I need something with a wider circumference that's also on the shorter side for height. I have some Frye Veronica slouch boots that I love in brown, but I can't spend that much on boots right now. The black boots I'm replacing are from DSW, I think, and fit well but weren't all that well made -- they have holes worn in the toes after not that much wear. I'm seeing some good prices on Born boots, but I'm afraid they're going to be too tall. I need something with a 12-13.5 shaft height (the Frye's, I think, are 13.5 and almost too tall) and I'm finding more 15-16.
I may be asking the impossible, but any suggestions?

These are the ones I have. I don't love them but I was exasperated with finding boots for my short, skinny legs as I didn't want them hitting behind my knee when I sit. I'm pretty sure I'm doomed to the hitting behind the knee - wish I had even your extra 2 inches.
Those look cute. Since my legs definitely aren't skinny, I wonder if I would need the extended calf size? Are yours roomy in the calf?

I bought a pair of Keens early on this season. I have worn them all winter and absolutely love them. I have the brown. They also have a mid version.

Just wanted to update that I really liked both, but when I ordered Amazon only had the Keens in a 6 and they were just a bit too small for my foot (and almost too small for my calves) so I went with the Clarks. I'm wearing them today and they're really comfy. Thanks so much for the help!
