This is my third baby. I don't really need any clothes. I would like something that makes me look and feel cute. Just a cute t shirt or something. But, no one carries maternity in store anymore (and if they do, I've checked them out and haven't been impressed with the selection I think it's the same 2 or 3 brands at all the stores. Yesterday I checked every major retailer in my county I think and came up empty handed. Kohls, Old Navy, Target, Destination Maternity (inside of Bye Bye Baby), Motherhood Maternity, Gordmans (that was a surprise and they have cute nursing bras too). Stores that used to carry maternity but no longer do: JC Penny, Meijer, Walmart, Baby's R Us.

I think the only brick and mortar left is Good Will and Burlington Coat Factory. :( I just want a cute maternity t shirt. Nearly everything is a gray/black/white and another color horizontal stripe or a solid. Am I being too picky?

Nevermind that I loathe to pay $25 for a freaking t shirt.

Any ideas? (also, by cute, I don't mean any little sayings or pictures of baby on the shirt.)

have you looked at jcrew or loft? they are more expensive, but by baby 3 (and 4!) i was glad to pay a bit more for an awesome shirt. :) ebay is great too, if you have brands/sizes you like.

Maternity clothes are FUGLY right now. When I was pregnant two years ago I found cute shirts I liked. This time I've found nothing - literally - that I feel cute in or would wear.

So it's not just you.

I agree, there isn't much out there. I picked up a couple of things from Old Navy that are working for me. I will be glad to be done with these clothes - hopefully soon!

To add some historical perspective ... in the 70's, a "cute maternity shirt" would have featured ruffles and duckie/chickie prints. It was almost impossible to find maternity clothes with any resemblance to normal clothes. And even harder to find stuff appropriate for work. Most of us had to completely change our style for the duration. Pretty awful! About the only good thing was that clothes seldom featured any sayings, cute or otherwise.

I didn't know those were options. I'll have to check them out. And you are probably right, at this point, I'll have to pay a little more for something a little bit cute.

lol! That's probably one of the reasons my mom sewed all her clothes back in the day!

another option is just go for the cardigan/scarf combo. you can use a cardigan you have paired with a maternity tank or go for a cardigan a size bigger (but in regular section) and a fun, pretty scarf. beautiful!

For anyone curious, I did find this website last night: http://us.asos.com/Women-Maternity/rsry2/?cid=5813 I was going to buy this (http://us.asos.com/ASOS-Maternity-Cami-In-Spot-Print/128yro/?iid=3764895&cid=8344&Rf-800=-1,15&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=-1&sort=-1&clr=Blackwhitespot&mporgp=L0FTT1MtTWF0ZXJuaXR5L0FTT1MtTWF0ZXJuaXR5LUN hbWktSW4tU3BvdC1QcmludC9Qcm9kLw..) shirt, but it's OOS this morning. I'm still thinking about this (http://us.asos.com/ASOS-Maternity-Exclusive-Lace-Top-With-Pleats/11cbtt/?iid=3326026&cid=8344&Rf-800=-1,15&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=-1&sort=-1&clr=Pink&mporgp=L0FTT1MtTWF0ZXJuaXR5L0FTT1MtTWF0ZXJuaXR5LUV 4Y2x1c2l2ZS1MYWNlLVRvcC1XaXRoLVBsZWF0cy9Qcm9kLw..) one, but I'm worried about the lace snagging (and my being a practical person, I will ruin it).

Will hunt out the rest of the internet today. lol! :)

Near the end of my pregnancy this time, I bought two cute tops at Motherhood. The salesgirl actually insisted I try them on because they looked better on than they did on the hanger. She was right!

This is was one of them: http://www.motherhood.com/Product.asp?Product_Id=98999Z10002&MasterCategory_Id=MC1 it needs a tank or cami underneath as it is staticky, I found, but I was one of my favourite tops. I bought the bright pink since I had a lot of black in my wardrobe.

Does Gap still make maternity stuff? They used to have cute things. :)

I had good luck with a few Boden maternity tops. LOFT, too.

Do you have A Pea on the Pod? It's the upscale version of Motherhood and probably the best selection you'll find brick and mortar. But pretty much my whole maternity wardrobe came from Target, with the exception of a Boden tunic I bought on eBay.
