I know we have a BBB Swap, but can't remember any info on it. I am forcing myself to finally part with DD's nicer clothes- Janie and Jack, Lilly Pulitzer, Gymbo, etc- where is the best place to sell it? I've never used ebay as a seller, and hear such horror stories. I'm not on Gymbofriends, wondering if that's the most active marketplace?
I have a local FB group but I live in an area where people don't buy these brands. On the local group, I posted a $100 like new Lilly Pulitzer Jubilee beaded dress, asked $10 and got answers back from people offering $4-$8. Eeek. Was I crazy? I thought $10 for a like new LP dress was a steal!

Our local high end children's boutique has a consignment section in the back where they sell MJ, MudPie and the like. They charge about 50-60 percent of the retail.

I think ebay is where you'll get top dollar. If you don't want to deal with the hassle yourself, you could consign it to an ebay trading assistant in your area. Pick someone with a very active account and very positive reviews.

Just a caution - avoid ThredUp. They say they'll pay you for clothes they can sell. You mail them your clothes and then they say nah, they're worth nothing (which in my case included some high-ends with tags still on!)

:yeahthat: I had a good experience with them when they were new but they've gotten a lot pickier since them. I sent high end clothes that had only been washed and worn a 1-2 times and they didn't accept them.

You can search for Facebook sites for just those brands-there is a Re-Lilly group that's just for selling Lilly stuff. I think people that are searching for a certain brand will know the value.

This was my experience too! I also suggest eBay. I have had great luck that way.

Ebay. I use a trading assistant (found on gymbofriends forum) because I don't want to hassle with them on my own. I end up with about 55% of what the items sell for, so I take a hit but at least the things get sold. Around here I've not had good luck with consignment places. You can also join GF and sign up for their "flower power" subscription (about $4 a month) and sell there. I did that for a while and did OK but got too much of a backlog of items after a while so got overwhelmed. I think even with the TA fee split I make out about at what I'd get for selling my own stuff on GF and I don't have the hassle of taking photos or doing any of that.

How do you go about finding a good ebay trading assistant?? I have stuff I want to sell and when I do post on ebay, I get good results. But I feel like it's so much work and don't have time. Then it turns into a pile.

If you join gymbofriends or gymboplace there is a section for eBay and you can post that you are in need of a "TA" (trading assistant). There are lots of posters who can give you recommendations. I found several TA's who messaged me the details of their contracts etc. Good luck! I've used TA's, sold at consignment sales AND stores. I still end up donating a ton, but getting $ back for the higher end stuff always helps!
ETA: the TA does all the listing, photos, shipping etc. All you need to do is send your great condition items clean and stain free. They do all the work! AND they have a following of shoppers.

Is there no consignment sales in your area? I have found that is the best way to get the most value from your items.
