Teacher gift. Help me make it please!

I want to give little flower pots this year. I want DS to sow the seeds, tend to the plant till the time it us time to give it to the reader. Thinking a message like "thank you for helping me grow" would be nice. What do you think?
I need help to get it started. What supplies do I need? Where should I buy the supplies? What flowering plant seeds should I buy? How should I go about it?

How many are you needing to do? Do you want it to be a one-time little plant, or something to grow more with the recipient?

We've just bought potted flowers and made a tag that said that to attach to the plant. We printed it off on card stock, glued to a Popsicle stick and put that in the dirt. Easy. :)
