Which Mac laptop to get?

Tell me which Mac laptop to get! I have an iMac desktop (the 27" one that's a couple of years old), a clunker of a work-issued Dell laptop, an iPad, and some old desktop PC that we use primarily for quick email/web checks in the kitchen. I'm thinking I may want a new laptop (and can't go Apple via work due to the contracts in place). I would mostly be using it for word processing, email, web stuff...no "gaming" (not even sure what that really means), no heavy photo editing, not anning to watch movies on it.

I don't understand the difference between all of them. Help?

I don't know if this will help, but I always get the middle model of the size that I want. I like the 15" but we also have a huge 17" that I would consider too much for my everyday needs (it was my husband's work computer that he was able to buy when laid off). I think the Air would be too small for me. If I want small, I use my iPad Mini.
