DD (7) was a bit lethargic yesterday afternoon. Did not want to eat dinner. This morning, only ate 2 bites of breakfast. In the middle of church, began complaining of stomach pains. Then complaints of not bing able to go o the bathroom - pee or poop. Has vomited 3 x this a.m. Now, stomach and head are hurting, still not able to go to bathroom.

Any thoughts? Do I need to take her somewhere? Or just ride it out a bit?

Can she explain a bit more of can't pee or poop? As in needs to, but can't because of pain? Or doesn't have the urge? Is she drinking? Any fever? Which quadrant are her stomach pains?

From what I can get from her, she has the feeling of needing to go, but when she goes to get on the toilet, she is unable to go.

And ugh, she's pointing more to her right side hurting.

Please tell me this is not looking like appendicitis.

Is her stomach distended? My DS had a similar episode a few years ago and wound up with a twisted intestine. The good news is that it untwisted after about 30 mins at the Children's ER - just long enough for a diagnosis. Also, it can very often be fixed non-surgically, if that is the case.

I hope she's ok. You have to go in though, IMO.

I would probably call on-call MD first, but you could go ahead and take her to an urgent care or ER. I have no idea what it could be, though. Good luck!

i've actually had appendicitis multiple times (it's possible, just not likely), and never threw up. just because it's a right side pain doesn't mean it *must* be the appendix! so have hope! i would take her in though...just for piece of mind!

one time with a UTI I couldn't go to the bathroom either. Hope she is feeling better already!

If she isn't able to go by this evening, I would take her in. It could be a twisted or blocked intestine.

Just talked to Dr. Some of her pain has subsided, so he is thinking constipation. We are trying Milk of Magnesia mixed with some vanilla ice cream to see if things "move along". He said if it worsens head to ER.

A friend's 4 yr. old daughter was admitted for appendicitis, as she was complaining of stomach pains, wouldn't eat and couldn't sleep and the x-rays they initially took weren't very clear. Turns out it was a severe UTI. I don't think she threw up though, that symptom doesn't seem to go with all the others. Good luck and hope she is feeling better soon!

Oh my, I really hope she feels better soon. IME the milk of magnesia gives me terrible stomach pain, but it does get things moving. I was also wondering about UTI or kidney infection. I hope it's nothing serious. Hugs.

Hope she is ok. Not peeing in several hours think you have to go in,

I think it's a stomach virus or something similar. She has been able to go to the bathroom and is now running a fever of about 100. She finally cried herself to sleep and now has woken up asking to watch Duck Dynasty and have me put lotion on her feet. I think she's going to survive even if she doesn't. :ROTFLMAO:

Thanks for all your thoughts. Her early symptoms were quite scary and even had her doctor concerned.

Now, here's hoping the rest of us don't get it!

By not being able to go to the bathroom, I'm assuming you mean poop? DD1 used to do this often. She wouldn't tell us that it had been days since she pooped and would get so constipated that it made her sick. She had headaches, terrible stomach pains, and vomiting.

I'm glad she is seeming better - not peeing in particular sounded very worrisome. Hope no one else gets sick and that she's on the mend soon!

I hope she feels better soon too! It was a potentially scary set of symptoms.

So glad she is better...love the lotion and duck dynasty request. Sounds like something my own almost 7yo would request! It's so hard to tell when they are this little if its am urgent matter or not.

My 18 yo is still unable to effectively explain some of her symptoms...she has auto immune issues so it gets frustrating when I don't know what's wrong ;)

Again happy for the good news!

Glad she is able to go to the bathroom again and I hope she's feeling a little better tomorrow.
