View Full Version : Derby Hat...help me choose

I need to choose between a hat and a fascinator. The hat seems more "derby-ish", but then my mom sent me an article out of Southern Living about Derby fashion saying fascinators were "in" and they had been popularized by Kate Middleton. We are going to a Derby party/fundraiser event at a SUPER exclusive club; however, that doesn't mean that the super-exclusive club members themselves will be there (Peyton Manning is a member!!) (we are not, by any stretch, members!)...it will be people that are attending the fundraiser. So, which do you like better?

Also, excuse my blurred out face. While I do value my anonymity, mostly it was that i have no make up on and looked like one big undereye circle, ha!

Hmm...the 2nd looks like it has feathers so that makes it kind of quirky in a good way. The other is more just a pretty hat. :) So, it depends on what you are going for.

(Any chance you could pm me your arm workout routine? :) They are what I am going for and I feel like I am missing something!)

I don't have any derby experience but I love the dress!! May I ask the brand?

Both hats are cute.

I think they're both cute and you can't go wrong either way. The fascinator has a younger more fun feel, IMO but the hat looks great, too.

I like the fascinator. It's got a more modern vibe.

Both look great but I like the second one a bit better.
I have to ask about those gorgeous shoes! Do you mind sharing where you got them?

Both are great, but I think the fascinator is more stylish so I voted for that.

I like the second hat much better. Looks much more modern, but still classy. Have fun!

Fascinatior! Great outfit. What a fun event. Hat is nice too but the fascinator says "Kentucky Derby" and Kate Middleton watch out!

Definitely #2!

BTW, I thought that you had photoshopped the hats on to a model's body...You look amazing!

Living in Louisville, we are in the middle of Derby madness right now!!! The fascinator is cute, on trend, and looks like you are headed to Oaks or Derby 2014. The fascinator looks festive and is a little more unique. The hat is cute but too small and subtle for Derby ; )

That's what I was thinking.

I really like the fascinator, though, especially with that dress.

This exactly. I like big derby hats with certain dresses, but with your dress I love the fascinator. Looks great.

I got them at TJ Maxx in 2006 for my wedding! So glad I'm getting to wear them again :)

OMG, THANK YOU!

Ok, this is EXACTLY what I was thinking, too. I have zero Derby experience, but as I was looking for hats, I was really wishing I could find a bigger one....that one seemed "just OK" to me for that very reason. Great!! Fascinator it is!! Thanks all!
